i'm holding serious money and 100% in IAG, did Friday hurt - yep. Am I worried? not so much as even by their own outlook, Ukrain not harming them much, nor is oil. I think the big issue was staffing and IT. I think they have been sensible (now) in planning to manage both of those...
Maybe small drop Monday as a little more PI's sell off but if you can afford to hold, it will rise again. just look at the charts it bounces like crazy between each quarter. The Phoenix will rise. the only question is can you hold until it does. I hope you all can.

@skindle
very interesting. maybe silly question, hopefully someone can answer.
if sold value is 0.4 billion and bought value is 16.4 billion, why is the SP down rather than up?
apologies for such a stupid question..

Does it matter how many days it has gone down or up? Surely it is the % it has gone down or up over that period or am I missing something?
I said I was going to hold until results day but can see volatility over next 2-3 days so just sold 50% to get dry powder to buy back in before results day. Cant guarantee it will go down to my buy in price so that's why only sold 50% but if it does i'm all in again. With volatility like this it's not too difficult to make money, i'm just not greedy and whilst occasionally i sell at top and buy in at bottom, i get it wrong more than i get it right but my average number of shares is always going up....I'm just a simple trader but it works. Hope it works for you guys too, whate evr your method.
@oil
I feel your pain but I wouldn't sweat the SP it will go up:-) i just hope it gfoes down a little bit first lol

Good point, I thought the same... But i am confident going forward. Holding all in IAG at the moment. still in the blue having day/weekly traded to bring my average down from 220 to mid 130's.
I learn't a lot from this bill bord..
1. Dont believe everything you read.
2. Dont take offence
3. be patient.
4. Be aware the sentiment is just as important as the fundamentals and either can trump the other!
I m holding until after the 6th...

maybe this is why price is suppressed?

it is not the time to train which has been an issue for them but that it takes 9 -12 weeks to get an airside pass. that is why BA advertised a £1,000 bonus for existing cabin crew to join BA... to that extent they have had some success.
i think the Miami cancelations is all about demand. BA are flying near full load capacity at the moment...

@ Marab
There is no doubt that BA released and fired too many staff but better to be short staffed than overstaffed which is where they were previously .
And as previously posted (AC777?) better to be short staffed now than during the summer!
I hear on the grape vine that BA have no finished their main recruitment drive and the staff that were used for recruiting are now going back on the line to help short term...Ideal no , frustrating that IAG has not been able to capitalise 100% sure. But better that way round rather than build up unnecessary debt....
full disclosure just sold 50% of my holding @154 to take advantage of any Friday drops to buy back in. Hopefully will make enough to celebrate with a tizer tonight.
GLA and good week end
apologies, i just noticed i posted at 16.20 with only a few minutes to go before the bell ringeth... doh! not much of a prediction . will take it on the chin as i am far east at the moment in different time zone...
good day for all (except maybe Marab) hope tomorrow is also good..

@AC
thanks for the posting. a confident outlook by the IAG CEO that 'we will be profitable this year'. and hedged @60% so oil price 'not going to stop us being profitable'.
so the only question is when and when will the sp reflect this?
my bet is somewhere between now and 1st Q results.... the SP definately has upward growth potential , just surprised its at such a low value but i guess thats good for when it eventually does climb!

People are getting hung up with 'flight cancellations' Makes good news but not always relevant. For example, some cancellations are 'long standing' meaning they have been cancelled since pre-pandemic, others are recent operational (and therefore more relevant). Most of the cancellations are shorthaul where there are 2 or 3 flights from the same departure point or where BA can rely on other carriers to transfer them. Some of the flights are due to staff shortages outside of BA's control, i.e. Heathrow ground staff and where this occurs BA can seek compensation. So makes for good headlines but not really a big deal as the cancellations are not great in proportion to number of flights /day or number of passengers/compensation given...
AA results will have a much bigger bearing and it seems like their results are on track to be good, so expect IAG SP to rise...
