…….this current BoD will have no more of my money. How on earth we have ended up with our CEO as our former Commercial Director who hasn’t struck any commercial deals over the past 24 months bar DAM speaks for itself.
Where’s the contrition? Where’s the ‘we take full responsibility and will take a pay cut’? Where’s the ‘we’re going to back our new strategy by putting in our own money’?
Answer: nowhere.
No more.
Vote No.

It could be, but couldn’t quite understand what he said through the waffle.

‘ The Welsh government is loaning four million lateral flow tests to England amid a shortage of supplies.
First Minister Mark Drakeford says: "Wales has a significant stock of lateral flow tests, sufficient to meet our needs over the weeks ahead."
Rapid tests have been intermittently unavailable to order online from the government website, while pharmacies have also reported patchy supplies.’
The above from BBC website…….can Scotland lend some as well?
Shameful on HMG….

…from ABDX blog……CEO, Chris Yates….’ Finally, it would be great if the UK Government and the devolved administrations supported the UK diagnostic industry; surely this has to make sense in terms of employment, tax, supply chain security etc.
Let’s support the great diagnostic companies in the UK who have developed these technologies, whether it’s lateral flow antigen (e.g. Avacta, Vatic, Mologic/Omega, Novacyt), lateral flow antibody (e.g. Abingdon Health, Novacyt) or near patient PCR (e.g. Genedrive, QuantumDx).

……’Dear …..
Thank you for your email to Keith Brown MSP.
I can confirm that Mr Brown has made contact directly with Omega Diagnostics to offer support.’

From Gov.uk…..lfts for international travel.
‘……….. The government will extend regulations and publish protocol to allow some tests supplied to the private testing market that are pending validation to remain on the market in the short term. This is to address any potential shortage of supply while work continues at pace to ensure only high-performing tests are ultimately approved to remain on the UK market. The government will continue to publish a list of private testing providers who meet the minimum standards for the public to choose from, with PCR test options available as well.’
So retaining some dodgy overseas tests whilst UK manufactured kick in, but whose?……
Big week ahead.

………’ Our King Colin, who art in Alva, hallowed be thine and Omega’s name; thy Visitect come; contracts will be done (a little bit later than planned) on earth (UK, EU and US) as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily lft’s and forgive us PHE trespasses as we forgive HMG who trespass against us; and lead us not into losses, but deliver us our profits. Amen.’
Stutz
And Omega name checked…..’
He said SureScreen tests, which have been partly assembled by Omega Diagnostics in Alva in Scotland, will form an essential part of the government’s rapid testing programme which has made free LFDs available to everyone in the UK’
Which UK companies are going make the other tests then?….hhhmmmm….
Stutz
Correct…all they do is ask you what you want them for (doh!), how many people in family and respective ages, then they jot that down on a bit of paper on a clipboard….21st century stuff. And you wonder why we’re all in such a mess…….
Stutz
……just picked up some more of our delightful Chinese imports from Boots and lady behind the counter gave me a note informing me that from October you will need a collection code to get the tests, which you get from the Gov website but only after providing details etc.
Clearly heading towards a totally new Antigen test distribution model next month, both in terms of public usage and travel requirements as already announced by HMG, leading ultimately to us all paying for them in the future.
Questions is, if the model is changing, are the manufacturers and suppliers as well? Well, we all hope so and HMG do need to recoup some of the £17m costs of loaning Colin the machinery!
Stutz
All LTH’s will be pleased to see the phrase ‘MHRA approval’ back…..expect to see Spurs7777 re-appearing shortly!
Stutz
….had my glasses on back to front……oh well, one can hope eh? But I do feel something in my water….either that or I need to go to A&E!
Stutz
……look closely at the Lords laptop screen on that pic on Twitter…...he’s got his Outlook calendar open for the week….I spy a meeting with Omega Diagnostics scheduled for 10:30am tomorrow…….crafty eh?!
Stutz
Thanks Vascular and yes, if that is an avenue that Omega are prepared to go down, then there’s no backing out and it would be an ‘all in’ situation. Personally I don’t see any reputational damage, especially from a US perspective, considering all the shenanigans going on with Abingdon etc and Omega would absolutely be able to substantiate such a position (see article shared earlier today as an excellent in-depth synopsis of the current HMG/UK Diagnostics Industry debacle) if needs be.
Who knows what conversations have been had or are going to be had between the 2 parties, however I just see overseas Visitect sales as being the more lucrative, then waiting endlessly for HMG to pull their finger out.
If they want their precious machinery back, then fine, they’re more than welcome to it imho! Colin can even provide them with a contact number of a reliable haulage firm who know where Alva is!
There’s more to Omega than just the UK.
Stutz
……the more-informed on here can probably help me out with this one, but can Colin give HMG an ultimatum e.g. put up or shut up? I’m thinking if/when FDA approval and/or EU approval arrives for the Visitect product, then potentially they will need the dedicated space/capacity currently allotted to HMG for ramping up capacity to produce and sell Visitect overseas.
Time to play hardball with the ‘lot’ (sorry, couldn’t think of an appropriate term!) down at Whitehall, as it seems it’s the only way they seem to understand. I’m not sure though of the t’s and C’s of the agreement that was entered into with HMG which imho don’t think will ever come to fruition, though I believe there’s more profit to be made outside of the UK.
When those approvals land (next week?!) and we can get some serious production and selling going into the US market in particular, then can Colin take that course of action without financial repercussions? And just think of the publicity/headline grabbing that would create, surely not something HMG would want to see, but to be honest I really don’t think they actually care having witnessed their inaction over the past 6 months.
