That's the beauty of having shares and leveraged positions. If it rises it's a win, if it falls back, I can look for a re-entry on leverage should it seem appropriate. Obviously, my longer term view is that the SP will rise. A positive result wrt to the EPL would be great.

I don't like holding over results and didn't profit from this mornings spike, but if we fall back to 451 or below. I'll be looking for a long entry here. I'm still hoping to see 500

I closed out my leveraged positions for a good profit. I've retained my shares. I think we'll see 258 or so, maybe lower today, but my intention is to buy back if the price seems to turn positive again. EPL is an issue. We're hoping for a floor price structure of some sort, if we don't get it, the SP could fall off a bit.

How pretty is that Smartie! 267 at the moment, could easily drop back to 258, but I'd imagine it's up from there. Still have the EPL detail to come Thursday

I did struggle a bit with that. I'd have preferred detail on profit. They aren't making any as they state they're moving in the right direction to turn a profit. Will be interesting to see how the market views it. The period from Mar 10th to present looks like a bottoming pattern. Doesn't mean it will hold, but we have already move up out of the diamond pattern and the theoretical target would be around 500.

Sid, good link to the Nyaga article. From a TA viewpoint I agree and I think that head a shoulders he/she mentions is important. For me it's actually activated around 219 (hence my earlier note). That support at 217ish could hold, but I don't think it will. I also don't think the SP will stop at 200 if there is a clear move below 217, I think we'll see 160-165 or even lower. I don't know what specific trigger would cause the drop. Today's fall seems to have been related to the JPM downgrade (to 250 from 285), plus increasingly negative press at a time the unions are trying hard to raise salaries.

could that be more to do with the wider expectations of credit tightening due to the recent bank failures in the US and Switzerland? It's not been particularly negatively received for the moment, it's jus that it looks like it'll take a bit longer to be digested. Fingers crossed it stays stable and gradually starts to move up.

33.5 billion debt by year end. 1.5? billion debt repayment due this year. 2.5 billion next year. 75% of debt on fixed interest. I guess that means 25% could be volatile? What kind of interest are we paying on our debt? My guess is that's the major worry. I closed my position at a profit, before having to go out. Is it possible that Carnival will seek additional financing as TUI have to done, to help them control costs on debt?

No increase in short activity reported by Shorttracker. Currently 1.48% of stock on-loan (assumed to be short sold). Data is 48 hours out of date, but suggests that upto 48h ago, there was aggressive move to short IDS. That data only includes declarable shorts ie. those where a single entity holds 0.5% or more of the float as a short position.

Another thing that could negatively impact the SP Jan would be if 'no-change' to the EPL was announced on Thursday and as a result, the delayed Results due now on April the 5th (not April the 1st thank goodness) reflected a worse than anticipated impact of the EPL going forward.

Another way of looking at it Jan might be that all of those buying in anticipation, would be disapointed if not sensible change was announced to the EPL on Thursday. Would they then sell as their speculation had not paid off. That would be logical, although that too might not happen.
