If yesterdays closing price was 557, it might signal a bounce. But we have 18 days until we know how big the rump is. When is it possible to sell the XR shares? I assume after the 24th? If that's the case it will perhaps take a while to settle even after the 24th.

There's a way to check. Use yahoo finance and it will give you every closing price for every day since I don't know when. I have other things to do so I'm not going to check, but all of the prices for the period you talk about will be there.

OK, maybe that makes sense with citadel going under 0.5% yesterday (to 0.47%) so no-longer declarable. So we still have some short interest.

Shorttracker now showing as 0%. Also using ShortEurope.com (thanks for that Chilting I think) they say no active short positions in the UK or Sweden. Does that tally with what you're seeing Markinen?

SP now been below 109. It's a very interesting business this. The shorts remain at 5.3% (suggesting some are looking for downside), but the recent RNS was upbeat. As previously stated, if I see evidence the SP is turning around, I'll add and if we get to the 103-104 area I might add speculatively. Happy to have dropped out at 129

I don't think this is panic Hexam. This is a recognition that many don't have the funds to take up their rights issues combined with a falling SP, people are now believing it's nailed on for 488 or lower so are selling their holdings a loss in order to buy more shares back. Just a view. There is a lot of confusion, but this is quite orderly. It's fear, confusion and the belief the SP will continue down therefore offering an advantage of selling now and buying back cheaper. It is very difficult to make predictions about the future. Better to watch the SP action, understand the time frames (is it complete on the 24th by the way with Rights finished on the 12th?).

iParsnip, I have felt that way so many times. I have no idea what is for the best for you, but have a gut feeling you've rather missed the boat and need to find a way to take up your rights to recoup what you'll otherwise have lost. Good luck, this time round I'm the right side of the RI so am composed. I've had some alwful moments in the past though.

SP has now been below 112 so it hit my 111-112 range. Closer inspection of the chart suggests another potential downside risk (gaps in the data) to between 109-110 and then even as low as 103-104. These are very small gaps that I'd not previously noticed, but they are visible on the 2h chart. I'm not suggesting that closing these gaps would act as support. Just that it's something to be aware of. I'll only continue buying back if we see evidence of a turnaround in the SP

The price now fits with Golitha's estimated based on market cap before and after the rights issue of 5.60 a share, but as beetrootjuice explains, this is not necessarily over. There are plenty of people who smell a profit when this settles, but beetrootjuice's post does highlight how complicated this is getting. Price could slid further yet. Best to wait until there's evidence of a bounce. I got stopped on one position for a loss of 30p or so, but am holding my shares (from around 620) and other leveraged positions from the same area more or less. I'm looking to at least double my share position and add to my leveraged trading positions, but will be patient.

Goodness, for a second I thought that reply was to me. I didn't remember posting and felt a bit 'crazy'. Was just about to check back to see what on earth I had posted, when I saw there's a Stumpy10 on the block!

I've just had a more detailed look at the MOON chart. A drop to 112.5 or below would meet my expectations. For the moment we've hit 113 or so. That doesn't eliminate that particular downside risk for me, but it's clear that some buyers are coming in.

It's interesting I talked about what happened after HBR results with the 20% or so drop in SP. On reflection, at the time of HBR's results, ENQ also dropped back and the chart structure since March 9th for ENQ and HBR are almost identical. So assuming there was any hit to absorb, it might be that we have already absorbed due to a negative read across from HBR's results. If that were the case and I believe it is, we might be on the verge of a decent move to the upside. That would suit me as I'm sat on in excess of 1 million shares and I am currently out of the money!

PI I have a real problem understanding TR1's could you explain exactly what the change in position was this morning?

Very positive and no shout out against the UK government. Just factual statement of the a loss of 47 million due to contingency set aside for EPL. Very strong RNS in my view. Shareholder returns in the near future . Debt down to 600 odd million and strong position for MandA. I like it. Much better than I expected.
