RE: Government is committed to new oil and gas licences in the North Sea26 May 2023 19:00
Jan, a year or two ago I'd have viewed 30-40p as a upside swing to be dropped for the next wave. Now I'd bite your hand off for over 30p. I'm not that far down, but on a big position it still doesn't look good. I'm also viewing it as trapped money for the moment. To free that money up would interest me at the current time. EPL changed just about everything for me here. At least HBR have a good divi (but no tax breaks). So happy to have 'diversified' (that sounds laughable in a way) there for the higher beta and divis.
I've stated my views on the political aspects of keeping/modifying the EPL and won't go back there, but the recent media coverage does make me a little more hopeful (maybe someon in power will read some of it do a bit more thinking about it).
Also agree the possibility of turning around quickly is attractive. On the face of it, I don't feel taht I made a mistake by investing. Although the imposition of the EPL has turned it into one. Maybe sounding as if I'm not owning my decisions a bit there, but that's not really true.
