My Carnival shares have updated this afternoon on my account with Barclays - so that was from the original position of having these DIs which have now taken exactly a week to transfer to the U.S. NYSE version and are tradable.

That is an interesting response from your broker. The DI's are fine in theory - if there are willing participants out there on the LSE who wish to buy/sell them. I have found out from my broker (Barclays) that there are no such participants, meaning the only option they have is to transfer my Carnival DIs to the NYSE listing - this must be what a cross-border transaction is.

I am lucky - you might not be - in that my broker is not passing on any cost to me to do this.. but I don't have a timeframe yet for them to complete this transfer.

My interpretation from speaking to a chap in a contact centre yesterday was that they had received a UK Depository Interest for Carnival, and it was assumed that it would be tradable on the LSE - however no one is providing a market for that particular security and so now we have to go through this "moving to the NYSE" rigmarole.

I don't understand why the majority (it seems) of UK brokers received a stock which is seemingly untradable on the LSE; and now have to go through a process without a timescale, meaning shareholders are out of the market, to move shares to the NYSE - who is liable for price movement on my shares if I want to sell and cannot? This seems at best unfair and at worst very, very poor operational processes being run by brokers. What are they not telling us?!

Hi all, my shares are still showing on my account today but remain on the UK line - my broker has advised this is what was received and that they now have to manually transfer the stock to the US - meaning i'm out of the market as i can't trade on the UK line...... anyone else experiencing this?

My broker communicated the options to us before Christmas, so I opted for the stock, but has subsequently advised they shouldn't have done this and should only have offered cash - has anyone experienced this?
