The advantage of this is that it avoids people objecting. That said most objections to planning applications do not seem to go anyway at best a condition would be added to the planning permission.

The only point I would make is that the importance of the Export Finance if I understand how it works, there are others on here who are better placed than me to explain how export finance works, HARL would be able to tell overseas clients we can arrange finance so you do not have to pay everything at once. This might make doing business more as it would potentially free capital up for clients.

In relation to IslandMagee you are right in your 12.17 post. IslandMagee is a gas storage project which would initially see seven caverns created deep underground to store gas. The marine license needed has been granted. The license is determinable on 25 years notice which cannot be given for 25 years. The challenge is to the grant of the license on the basis that the decision to grant it was irrational. There is a four day hearing in May. There is a chance that it would be appealed not sure if that would cause a further delay.

Chitta123 ref 07.46 post I am not convinced that the Marine License issue will be resolved on May 16th. Firstly the JR is listed for four days so you will not get a decision before the end of the hearing at the earliest. Secondly, after a four day hearing the judge will reserve judgement and the decision will be given on another day. So it is possible that the decision may not come out for a month as the judge will have other cases to hear. Thirdly there is a very good chance that the decision will be appealed.

I just checked the planning application on this link https://planningregister.planningsystemni.gov.uk/application/667354. It shows the application has been withdrawn. I presume that this is so they can put in another application covering more of the upgrade works.

In view of the reputations of the other bidders if HARL was to get this, and I have already expressed my view on that, inmy opinion it would be a massive vote of confidence and would set HARL up well for this. I am going to disagree with you on possible contract value. I remember reading a document that I think I posted here which showed the amount set aside for this and two other contracts. On that basis I think the contract value in dollars might in fact be in mid eight figures or thereabouts.

HarChris ref 11.50 post you say 'There's also a mention of contributions from the landlords at Belfast but this is assumed to be negligible.' I wonder what is your basis for saying this is neglible? In the 1 February RNS it refers to Leasehold enhancements and this would seem to be what is referred to by the contribution from Belfast Harbour. Without knowing what the leasehold enhancements are it is difficult to value them.
