Try not to panic. I was an IFA for 18 years and lived through a number of stock market crashes, corrections, currency problems etc etc. I always take the long view, as many of you do. Yes, it's uncomfortable seeing drops like this one today. But the sound fundamentals of RR haven't changed. I'm over 400% up since 2023. I've heard it said that "bull markets climb a wall of worry".

He £20k limit is the amount that can be invested in a tax year. Any profit made within the ISA is free of capital gains tax. It doesn't matter whether it's £10 or £1 million pounds. I hope that helps.

As the earings per share of a stock increases, the p/e ratio will fall.

Given that £8 is just over 30% of where the SP is now, I'd like to think that it'll do a lot better. This isn't based on wishful thinking but on the sound footing of the business and all those things still in the pipeline.

On a separate matter, and I mean this sincerely, as someone who reads this message board daily, can we please elevate the tone of some of the conversations....you know who you are!

I agree, governments are guilty of dreadful waste and overruns on public purse projects eg PFI of the 1990's, The Millenium Dome, Holyrood building, it was budgeted to cost £30 million and ended up costing £300 million.

I think that the UK SMR project will go ahead, but not as expeditiously as it needs to. Like others have stated on here already, the UK may well have to stand in line and wait while other countries who had the prescience to start planning early get their SMR's first...but then again Brits love to stand in a queue!

1 million buy just gone through. Tree shake possibly? Those in the know, know something we don't? Still a good share to be invested in. I bought for £1.50 last year. We've seen these ups & downs before. The RR solid fundamentals haven't changed.

I've just checked. It shows yesterday's closing price as £4.85.

SMT is only one of my holdings and the charges are very low given the access the fund provides to global equities.

I'm new here although I've been reading with interest the various comments on SMT. I bought in at the end of summer last year at 881p so i'm very pleased with profit so far. In a previous life I was an IFA for 16 years and advised many clients where to invest their money for long term growth. I recommended one of my clients (a friend) to invest £6,000 into a PEP (Personal Equity Plan) the forerunner to ISA's. The fund I advised within the PEP was one of Marlborough's UK smaller company funds run by Giles Hargreaves. Some 20 years later that investment has grown to over £100,000. My client simply bought and held the investment through all the market turbulence, wars, currency crisis' & recessions that we've seen during that time. Proof that with the right investment long term really does pay off.
