Yes, it's true. Just seen the headlines on the news. I bought another £25 k today at £6.48, so tomorrow should be encouraging!

Buys & sells pretty even just now. There's been some large buys go through this week. As I've said before, these will be institutions buying for the medium to long term. Yes, the SP is like a whip saw at the moment. But once the tariffs issue begins to be resolved, which it will, a more normal trading landscape will re-appear on our horizon.

IMO, Trump, for all his mercurial unpredictably/volatility, doesn't want to kill the goose that lays the golden egg. Yes he knows that higher tariffs very quickly increase Treasury receipts from trading partners. However, he will have advisers shouting in his ears about the damage that sustained higher tariffs will do to world trade, ergo, the US will also suffer.

The challenge that he now faces is how to extricate America from the stand off with China, without it leaving "egg on his chin". Unfortunately, his ego and how it controls his decision making will be a major factor in the winding back of the tariffs process.

He'll want to appear the victor in this very high risk game of brinkmanship. Ultimately, I think his end game is to bring the nations of the world, back to the negotiating table to draw up new trade agreements.

With a near 30% trading range today, this is like owning an AIM stock! Still, it's moving in the right direction...that's the main thing. It's looks as if things are a little less opaque now!

Indeed RP, indeed. Its been a tough few days for millions & millions of folks around the world. I'm pretty philosophical about things usually. But, this has been a really uncomfortable time. But as many have already opined here, it's difficult to think of a company better placed than RR to benefit from the rapidly changing world we're living in. Defence, aerospace & energy production are global requirements that are here to stay.

Albeit, I find the level of hatred and wars in the world just now deeply grievous...as I'm sure many ordinary people do.

The S&P 500, the Dow Jones & the Nasdaq futures have all eased from their opening positions, ie they're set to open higher than last night's forecast. Let's hope so.

Unfortunately, I tried a number of times to deal this morning. However, my ISA/ Investment account provider was having "technical issues". A euphemism for "The Lemmings are jumping off the cliff!"

Following the stock market rout of the last few days, the yield on the 10 yr US Treasury note as of today stands at 4%. Most of the world's central banks take their base rate lead from this financial instrument.

With talk of higher inflation now juxtaposed with a possible recession it'll be interesting to see how this affects central bank lending rates. As far as the UK is concerned, many families are feeling the brutal effects of this government's poor handling (a generous way of putting it I know!) of economic policy.

A continued easing this year of the Bank of England base rate would, it goes without saying, be most welcome.

Try not to be driven by fear. It's a time for composure & grace under pressure. Remember that the vast majority of RR shares are held by large institutions and they're not selling. This is painful to watch, but it's not a bloodbath. The 1929 crash was a bloodbath...70%, 1987 was 30%. As I've already said, I worked in financial for 18 years in a previous life. I remember all the times that people called out "The sky is falling, the sky is falling!"...but it never did. Yes, we're in a very different world now, but Trump despite his apparent or obvious naivite' is I think playing a game of brinkmanship. ..which may end up back firing on him. I do think we will see some serious gatherings of world leaders and there chancellors to hammer out new trade deals. DYOR...all the best 👌

Does someone have a sense of which way things might go? A £38 million uncrossing trade went through at 16:35 pm. An institution purchase I'd say.

I know this, I'm 416% up since 2023. I thought RR was a good investment when I bought my first tranche of shares back then. But not in my wildest dreams could I have imagined the life choices that it's presented my family with. The most notable being, is that It's enabled my wife to take early retirement from the NHS after 40 years service...ok, a year early. But a year feels more important at this end than when we were in our 20's.

The financial challenges that were on our radar a few years ago, thankfully are no longer. We count ourselves very fortunate, even blessed with where we are.

So, this week's drop in the SP, whilst not what any of us want, has nothing to do with the solid fundamentals of this great, Great British company. It's "static" eminating from various sources that we're all probably familiar with.

The SP will resume it's upward trajectory soon. The Turbo Tufan turnaround is a remarkably compelling story, one which easily captures the imagination. A neighbour of mine works for RR and it's clear how his leadership has not only propelled the company back into profit, sent the SP stratospheric, but also infused the work force with a real sense of pride in what they're doing.

Would that all British companies could be run with this way. Have great weekend, hug your kids & grandkids, tell your wife you love her. These are the things that really matter. All the best!

Yes, my wife & I were on holiday last summer when the half year results came out. The SP popped through £5 and then in a fairly short space of time drifted back down to the £4.20's. But here we are around £8. I think the easier money on RR has been made. My initial investment in 2023 trebled a year later. We become use to very large returns in relatively short periods of time. There are days when we're literally thousands of pounds up, before we've gone out the front door. The caution here, is that returns of 20% pa or even slightly better (something fund managers dream of) may seem a little too pedestrian for some investors.

That said, the half year results in August will probably result in another jump or pop in the share price. I've said for a long time that the investor's best friend is TIME.

Thanks Svend, a wise perspective as usual. I've noticed that the very large purchases that we'd been seeing up until fairly recently have become less frequent. I'm assuming that these are large institutional purchases. There have been two significant purchases however this week, one for £43 million & another for £37 million.

The reason I mention this is that the large institutions have significant resources and a wealth of experience in assessing whether a stock should be purchased. Also, most of the fund managers buy for the medium to long term and tend not to trade, that was certainly the case when I worked in the financial services industry.

So, even though we're experiencing uncomfortable pull backs from time to time, I keep in mind that RR main income streams are vital services that the world and changing world vitally need. Defence, aerospace and power generation. Whilst there may be other, aspiring "games in town". RR has a proven track record and pedigree that make it a wise man's first choice. All the best!
