Steady lads. This is a marathon not a sprint. RR is more Mo Farah than Usain Bolt. We've been here many times in the last few years. The long term investment case for RR is still solid for all the reasons that I and others have stated many times. I don't think about the short term fluctuations in the SP. I keep focused on Tufan's transformation strategy, the many meetings and conversations with RR's strategic partners that are taking place around the globe, the new contracts that are being agreed & signed and the tens of thousands of dedicated & highly skilled RR employees that turn up each day to bring make the vision a reality. After 4 decades of investing, I've never seen and benefitted from such a compelling business model that RR has, and continues to present to those willing to jump on board for a long term ride. I initially bought in back in spring of 2023. My first tranche was £1.50. Added to it pretty quickly in the first few months & still holding. It's been an inexorable rise in the SP since then and life changing. I think of RR as a graceful Shire Horse, powerful and capable of incredible feats of strength, juxtaposed with the agility of an Arabian thoroughbred that's never been told where it's limits are. It adapts quickly to each new environment and leads from the front with class and unmatched pace!

UBS raises Rolls-Royce price target to 1,350 (1,310) pence - 'buy'

Hi retirement, you raise some very valid points, re: diversification etc. RR has grown phenomenally well, more like a smaller company stock than a blue chip. It's been on a tear again recently which is great to see. A while back, I called an SP of £16 per share by half year results day in August 2026. I'm still sticking by that. With all that I'm reading about the company's trajectory and it's multi sector strengths, I believe its got a lot still left in the tank...in time £20 plus per share. Sounds unbelievable?...no more than £5 per share when I bought in at £1.50 per share.

Indeed pappalazz, you're correct. Every trade needs a buyer and a seller. I don't think its correct to say the the reported trades are best guesses and are not real life. There has to be a certain amount of transparency to the info we're provided with. There's lots of info online on this subject. I generally take it as an indication of the market pressure to buy or sell. But even so, this isn't always a good steer as there can be more reported sells whilst the SP moves up & vice versa.

I'll be brief. Nothing to panic about re: RR fundamentals, nothing has changed...oh wait, it's recently improved with SP upgrades & credit upgrades. "Investor myopia" seems to be a real condition. Look to the horizon & think medium to long term. This time next year the SP will be much higher 😊

NTC, "So what should we do". That's a very good question. However, I don't think the issue is necessarily a binary one. It can be "both and" rather than "either or". To sell shares and take the moral high ground, when you'd rather keep them, seems like cognitive dissonance at best or cutting one's nose to spite one's own face at worst, just to make a point.

It's think it's possible to continue holding the shares, whilst communicating your contrary position. Rather than it being hypocrisy, it could be expressed as holding both positions in tension. It then leaves the altruistic individual to use their profits for good in whatever way they see fit. Just a thought?

There's so much positive information coming out just now for RR. What, with broker SP upgrades and S&P's revised credit rating, up from BBB- to BBB+ on improved cash flow.

Yes, these are opinions and projections from professional organisations, however, they're not simply plucked out of thin air. They're subsequent to consistently improving annual results along with robust forward guidance.

RR is also continuing to network globally with existing and potential new strategic partners. Whatever is reported in various news threads, you can be sure that there'll be much more work going on behind the scenes, that's propelling RR deeper into the unfolding landscape of the technological revolution that the world is undergoing.

For those who think that the SP is approaching it's zenith, I believe, that this magnificent British company has much further to go, ergo, so does the SP.

It's a phenomenally exciting time for engineering and RR are uniquely positioned to benefit, not just for the next few years, but for decades. I'd put it like this, what we've seen thus far have been "the warm up acts"...the main attraction has yet to come on stage!

We're off to sunny Scotland for a week with family & grandchildren tomorrow...these are my real treasures, I fact they're priceless.

Newtrader1 - I've been investing in the markets for 40 years. My approach is to buy & hold. I don't day trade. You may on occasions make a profit, however there are plenty of professional traders with sophisticated trading programmes that will, (pardon the phrase) chew you up and spit you out. I've heard of too many disaster stories of day traders who got "badly burned".

It may be worth you taking a look at some of the previous posts here, by some of the longer term savvy investors re: RR and it's pretty unique position as a multi faceted engineering giant within the FTSE 100. I hope that helps. All the best 👍

Day trading

Typo: 1065p not 1064.5p

Oldsid, the market officially closes at 4:30pm. However, some trades are carried out after this time. The Google chart shows a final price of 1045p at a time approaching 6;30pm.

If you look on this page under the "Get live data" section and the sub heading "change", you'll see the closing price of 1064.50p. This, technically should be the 4:30pm price. However, for some reason this "closing price" often doesn't settle until around 5:00pm or just after.

Other places to check the official closing price are, The London Stock Exchange website, or the Rolls Royce website. Hope that helps.
