We don't generate revenue, so royalty deals and sales like this are to generate cash. For the running of the business. Otherwise we fold. That bit is simple- we always need cash, right up until the day a smelter pays us for some gold or copper.

Broke: that's an interesting take. Do you admit that one of the fighters in your analogy is the heavyweight champion of the world (largest MCap) and on is an unproven fighter who, in the build up to the right, showed promise with one big punch and a few little ones? In other words, BHP still won't be forced into a bid, no matter how much people here hope for it.

Makes it even more clear that Maxit comments were just bluster. All this talk of big action, realising value for all shareholders, and we've just sold at 16p for non-Cascabel cash to keep the lights on.

No sale coming then? Sorry folks. This must really sting. I'm not enjoying the dilution but being correct takes the edge off a little bit. Shame they couldn't place a couple of cents higher, but oh well. On we go!

Very odd comment, Monte, though I admit that some of you are as repetitive as children's TV shows tend to be. Good comparison.

I'll keep posting for balance, to try and dampen the reverberations in this echo chamber. Left unchecked, this message board will make it look like a sale is going to happen, and some unfortunate would-be investor who happens upon it might think the rampers here know something. Which would be a dangerous misunderstanding of the situation.

So having read all of these posts, a conclusion:

The biased people who desperately want a sale say there is going to be a sale. Shocker. No details, just a hopeful 'soon'.

The market doesn't think there is going to be a sale, and the SP bobs about. Any drop like today's is swept away on a tide of "don't worry, it will sell soon", and any rise of similar proportions is hailed as evidence that "it will sell soon". Genuinely amusing.

Has there been a sale announced?! Please like as there is no RNS out yet!

Or we are not being sold. Which is it?

Or it won't be sold. Just for balance, you understand. Because, despite the blow hards doing their desperate ramping into the echo chamber, there is no sale on the cards currently. Lots of people across multiple institutions that want one, sure. But no sale.

I only ask because, to read this board for the past two years, one could be forgiven for thinking the company was going to be sold? Alas not today.

No, not selling. Range of outcomes possible here, but maintain that the 'BHP will have to put up or shut up' mantra repeated so often on here is total rubbish. Deepest pockets in the industry don't get forced into anything, simple as that. Even without any new copper assets, BHP have plenty of cash generating ventures to keep their div-hungry holders happy :)

So Mike mentions a toehold in Solgold as an alternative to M&A. Interesting. No appetite to buy out Solgold, even at price based on 20 week. Hope that Maxit fella's unsubstantiated bluster doesn't turn out to be the bluff I currently assume it is.

Not sure the market has bought Maxit's bluster. Maxit seem to have a good track record of offloading companies, but there hasn't been a flurry of people who believe they actually have a buyer(s) lined up here. Still, the echo chamber members will continue to say a sale is imminent. Almost here. Get your tickets now. Wouldn't want to be out . Any second now. No chance of still being here at the next AGM... Oh, okay, the NEXT AGM then... Funny stuff.

That's my bad. Can't argue that it hasn't made his desk now. Still don't think he'll be forced to make a bid 'the put-up-or-shut-up' argument, but that quote is at least evidence that we are on his radar.

Easy there Redknight1, check your facts a bit. No humble pie for me: I'm still correct. Yesterday when I forecast the year I said we might well have a new CEO by the '23 AGM, and a couple of new CFOs. We're there on one of those predictions, and I'm confident we'll get there on the other.

As far as everything else I said, I'm still correct. No re-rate. No takeover. Not getting out of the 30s. Senior managers at BHP still not caring what happens at Solgold, as it's a drop-in-the-ocean investment... So why am I eating humble pie? Because the same echo chamber members here still say this means there is going to be a sale? That's the exact narrative I was countering yesterday!

Gosh, Fort, you're giving my critique of the common takeover narrative here quite a lot of brain space: don't let it worry you too much, please. It's just another point if view.

I think 30p is possible, yes- quite common for solg. I don't think the 50s are going to happen (sorry, I know this is unpopular, but 30s would still mean good profit for lots of people who are not in too deep, and have bought some at this current level).

Happy to leave it here. Will come back each day to read, as I always do. Will maybe have a cheeky gloat in the coming weeks and months if I am still right (only in jest though, not intending to cause actual upset), and will also make sure to post a pure apology if we do get taken over before the '23 AGM.

I think (and hope) the share price will fluctuate in that time. Madness to say otherwise. Maybe we'll go high 30s on rumour, or on the DFS. They may even manage a small JV on a smaller concession, but probably not with a household name. What I am confident won't happen is the 50+p re-rate some insist is a given if we just wait another week or two (think there have been posters saying that for at least a few years!). And I'm even more confident that BHP won't 'be forced to put up or shut up', which was my original point many hours ago. Anyway, my opinions don't really matter, just hoping to bring about a bit of balance. Will happily leave the echo chamber unencumbered if people just want to speculate about that incoming bid!

Okay. Well today has been interesting, ice enjoyed everybody's inputs, as I usually do. I'm still fairly sure the chiefs at BHP don't care about solg, and I am just as confident we won't be taken over in the next 13 months. But it is genuinely heartening to be able to have a back-and-forth with no swearing and no belittling. Have a good night everyone. Hoping for a bit of upward movement tomorrow, which is sentiment we can all end the day on.
