If one checks a few sectors, we can easily see that for instance the airline industry, housing, hospitality industry such as hotels and restaurants, the pubs, the cruise liners, the cinemas are all almost bankrupt. Come all manufacturing and its supply chain and logistics/transport at least halved. Apart from food, high street retail is dead. At the moment people still buy a few things on-line but when the millions of unemployed start kicking in the next few months, on-line retail will significantly drop.
We have left supermarkets for food, pharmas/healthcare and all those working towards Covid 19.
The problem is that this situation may last longer than anticipated. This is the first time in history nobody can predict anything.

I cannot see any industrial sector where to invest when every economist and every bank is saying we are going to experience the harshest recession in history. So I cannot see anything else apart from here.

For those waiting news, I think it's not a question of when it will arrive. It is rather a question when the market will realise that this sector with its antibody testing in particular, is here to play the major role for a minimum of 2 years. Yes every country would wish to lift confinement but without the torch of antibody testing, it will be difficult. IMO the virus will stay for longer than anticipated and a vaccine is not for tomorrow. Adding the spikes per country and the expected possible second waves, there is no way out of this virus. When countries have peaked, thanks to antigen testing, it is the turn of antibody testing to take over. So each country would establish its rising curve = Mainly antigen testing and its falling/plateauing curve = Mainly antibody testing before any decent confinement is allowed. Otherwise they have to re-confine a second time as some countries have already done.

True. I cannot see any other sector that will prosper for at least the next 24 months than test equipment for Covid 19. There will be a few such as food and Software for business continuity, but with millions of people losing their jobs, only a minority is going to buy a few things on-line. If one can cover for food and rates, it's already a big plus. All economic indicators are in the red. So IMO, this is the sector that will establish itself slowly but surely and where to be.

Sliv - You ssaid it all: "The problem is capacity" - This is the biggest challenge for pharmas to be able to offer the test to 7.7 billion people. So no pharma or test manufacturer is enough to satisfy the demand and this virus looks set to remain with us for at least 24 months - if we are lucky. 24 months is the time required to have a safely tested vaccine and to be able to offer it to every country. So for both, testing and vaccine, capacity will be the major bottle neck. This sector as a whole will be be prospering for at least 2 years.

@MIKODX - Not confusing at all. Without antibody testing we would never be able to single out and reduce the groups that can be allowed to work and move/travel freely around. Also people with antibodies do not need a vaccine when this is available. So just simply testing people to know who is infected and who isn't will never end because a virus-free person can become infected any minute later. By knowing the number of people with antibodies, we know how many people have recovered and are virus free and we also know who are those remaining to be taking safety/protection measures. Overall knowing the number of people with antibodies, gives a real picture of the number of people who could help the economy. The antibody data is very important during the de-confinement period.

The whole market is down today but we are in a very promising sector. We only need to understand ODX prospects and the effects of this pandemic on the world. IMO we will be living with this virus for at least another year and there will always be clusters of propagation in every country for many months to come. News coming from the US indicated the vaccine may take longer than anticipated. Even when ready, safe and fully tested, it'll take a year or so to hit every population on earth. So ODX and many pharmas and equipment manufacturers role in Covid 19 will be huge. As antibody test is the only means that gives confidence to relax even partial confinement, I can see ODX test equipment and its expertise in great demand. It is just a matter of remaining cool and patient while the market and the analysts realise this sector will be the top pick to prosper under pandemic conditions. So Keep calm and ignore the external noises which are in fact normal and the main ingredients to make markets move on a daily basis. Without them, everything is monotonous and dead so we need ups and downs to demonstrate the markets are still alive... But at the end of the day, reality will prevail. Just hold and forget.

The latest reply from ODX regarding a query about Mologic in consultation with PHE and MHRA regarding fast-track approval of their anti-body test: "Hello - The UK-RTC is the ONLY group that is UK Government-led and unlike some that have just started, we have been working on the development project for a few weeks now. Once the design freeze is achieved, the next step is to CE Mark the product will come shortly afterwards" - It seems ODX is well ahead of competitors developing home anti-body test.

Ethio et al: If one has antibodies it means, a vaccine will not work for that person. So antibody testing is crucial for 1/ knowing who has the virus in the past and was cured without any external help (for R & D) and 2/ To pinpoint those who do not need a vaccine when this will be ready (if we are lucky). Antibody testing goes with de-confinement and vaccination.

PDMSPiper: 100% agree and in the US, they have recently rejected 3 or 4. The UK RTC consortium will have the best test as it is backed by various experienced scientific bodies. Nowadays in the midst of this pandemic, anyone can claim anything but at the end of the day, the truth will be in the accuracy and reliability.

With a vaccine now, it'll take more than 12 months to get it accessible to a few billion people. If a vaccine is delayed, the only hope to save the world economy in the short to medium term would be to test people for antibodies. So no need for a drawing to understand that the market for antibodies is huge and limitless. The major challenge will only be to satisfy the demand.

@sleepydave: I checked the three companies you posted below and none of them manufactures diagnostic test equipment. What I meant is ODX is the only diagnostic medical equipment UK company focused mainly on viral infections. All those present in the UK are representatives of foreign companies.

ODX is backed by the government too. One has to be aware that ODX is the only medical equipment manufacturer in the UK while Germany and France have loads. So I am sure they will put all resources needed to help ODX grow very quickly.
