We know there are a delay and additional costs, do we know how much? No, that's the unknown here, it could be days or weeks, and it could be thosands or millions of dollars for the clean-out and fines (if any). We just don't know, and I am waiting until there is more information as a prudent measure. Does this accident affect the oil and gas in place? In a very minor way, it is not a catastrophy that will drive Zephyr to bankrupcy.
You want to belive CH and Malcy that everything is well and this is not something serious, it is up to you, but I'm not buying into it. Setatan1 made a good (in my humble opinion only, of course) summary of the situation in the last months and how ZPHR has stopped the periodic updates we used to receive from him. That's something I have recently criticised as well.

It didn't take much to see that the team was lacking the kind of expertise that was needed to avoid things like this. O&G exploration requires a very particular expertise that the company is still missing today. It is the second time that this particular drill has been affected by suboptimal planning and execution with very different causes and it is nothing to do with the drilling crew.

I'm not deramping anything, I'm trying to share my previous experience when there are troubles with the infrastructure required for E&P of oil and gas, because it has cost me money in the past. I'm trying to be fair, this is a delay and will increase costs, but THIS IS NOT THE END OF THE COMPANY. I will think to buy again when all the uncertainties are solved, are we considering weeks or months before starting the productio tests of 36-2? Nobody knows and buying now it is an asymmetric situation as there is no information to make an informed decision.
This is just an exploration well, the company does not require it to keep generating revenue. I don't know in what message I implied that the future of the company is in jeopardy. I see Zephyr's future value in Utah, not in North Dakota. I do expect that they solve the issues at the 36-2 and prepare the gas gathering infrastructure to start producing from 16-2 and 36-2 already in 2023, then 36-3 with the additional resrevoir will be key to confirm the value of the whole Paradox area.

I never said anything like this "a disaster they''ll never recover from", I said it will require time to properly assess the actual damage to the pad, well and reservoir. I wouldn't expect a hint of negative perception from Malcy, that's all I was referring to with my message in this thread. I do think this is a setback but it will be solvable, in fact, I think that they should refocus the strategy and go for the State 36-3 LN-C9 well until the situation with the State 36-2 LNW-CC drill is clear.

Ezhik, the RNS says that they had finished the workover, so I guess the well wasn't running any test at the moment. There is little information, but I understand that the valve suffered a structural failure and let the well flow uncontrolled. As there wasn't any choke or test equipment, the hydrocarbons may be flowing freely and that could be a source of a lot of damage. Another issue is the pertinent safety and operational concerns that this will trigger, I believe that a investigation will be required by the State or Federal authorities. Exceeding the allowed emissions due to the flowing gas and condensates (most of which would have evaporated after flowing into the atmosphere) will also be addressed by the authorities. I will remain out for a while.

I see lots of copium in many of you, free flow of hydrocarbons is what you want to avoid because it can damage the well head, tubing, valves or the reservoir itself. Nothing is sure at this point, but it is not just cleaning some oil from the soil type of work.

Are serious taking this as positive news? This could mean that the well has to be drilled if it collapsed or suffered heavy damage.
