Any cause for concern?19 Jan 2021 13:21
I'm not really on top of the various testing techniques....but is this anything for us to worry about? Courtesy of Retireby40 on the Deep Verge board.
"If @avacta #AVCT sorts itself out and gets its BAMS assay CE Marked (and FDA approved?) - and if the assay can run on the mini mass specs of @Microsaic #MSYS - then they could be onto a genuine challenger to RT-PCR for #COVID19.
Antigen-based - so 5-10 mins, as opposed to 45-180 mins for PCR; and won't use amplification (as PCR does), thus no 'overly-accurate' true negatives.
#MSYS' miniature mass spectrometers are an equivalent size to desktop PCRs. Maybe 2-3x more expensive, but the MUCH faster throughput and greater accuracy could make the tech the gold-standard for #COVID19 testing."
