The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring Jeremy Skillington, CEO of Poolbeg Pharma has just been released. Listen here.
My 124.458 buy showed up as a sell a bit earlier.
In the reds now showing up I spy my buy, so I suspect a lot of the others are also buys.
Just out of interest they talk about page 84 at around 1:43:00 if you want to hear what they have to say.
Just a thought... with all the talk about Europe/US moving away from reliance on Chinese supply chains, that does bode well for when electrolyte production comes online. BELCO is nicely positioned to be one of the major players outside of China. From what I can tell we are leading the pack as far is setting up this sort of direct from mine to electrolyte operation, not to mention the years building energy industry & VRFB manufacturing relationships.
Was just looking to see if there had been any recent updates on the Bushveldenergy.com website.
They've updated the 'Projects' section to mention that the Vametco Hybrid-Mini-Grid won 'Power Project of the Year' at the South African National Energy Association (SANEA) awards in 2022. I don't remember hearing about it before, but may have already been mentioned here.
They also updated the 'Collaborations' section in regards to Eskom. It now mentions not only the VRFB testing that has happened but says "... looking to deploy larger commercial VRFB’s within Eskom’s planned BESS procurement programmes."
I must say the new logos & branding looks much better when compared to the older versions.
Check out Big Bite Now on Twitter. Always has some good insight and data to back it up.

He also created a blog, but it doesn't seem to have been updated too recently.

Quick question... when you say "requires 280 tonnes of vanadium per annum". Why is it per annum? I presume that is because it's on a lease agreement? Obviously it's not because the Vanadium gets depleted and needs topping up.
Actually I see SAPVIA (Solar industry body) is also listed. Frank Spencer who is the Head of Deployment at Bushveld Energy is on their board.

Came across this interesting diagram mapping parties involved in the countries energy transition. Encouraging to see SAESA listed, whose chairman is Bushveld Energy's CEO, Mikhail Nikomarov.

Fortunes wrap up was a bit like his version of a 'this time next year Rodney...' :)
Working fine for me.
"Experimental data shows that the power density of the vanadium battery assembled with the graphene composite electrode can be increased by more than 80% compared with the original electrode material, and it also exhibits superior cycle stability."
80% increase - wow that's pretty staggering!
The story of BMN is an African one.
It's like the roll of thunder on a hot South African highveld afternoon. On cue the trees start twitching, and the wind starts strafing the grass. As the horizon falls into shadow, rolls of thunder dance staccato with the crackling lightning.
In anticipation you start counting the seconds between blinding flash and deafening boom. Then the raindrops fall, and a heavenly tsunami is unleashed.
Blue-gums are whipped into savage frenzy. Flash floods carry away the road. Everything is quiet, or eventually drowned out by the torrential river .
The rains have arrived.

Wow! That is crazy considering the amount of people invested in those companies when compared to BMN. Not to mention the mega money traded in a day for those companies. BMN included in that list of heavy weights bodes well in my thinking.
I've pinged them on Twitter to see if I can get any clarity on whether they are going to be using VRFB's.
Came across this article:
https://renewafrica.biz/2021/05/04/juwi-building-worlds-largest-mine-solar-hybrid-plant-for-centamin-in-egypt/
It doesn't indicate what sort of battery storage will be used, but having done some digging it seems Juwi Hybrid IQ uses redox flow batteries. Doesn't mention if Vanadium.

Anyone familiar with Juwi Group - they seem to be pretty major players world wide, with a presence in SA:

To quote the Avacta websites 'Diagnostics Partnering' page:
"Avacta announced a commercial partnership with Mologic in February 2021 to accelerate to market Avacta’s AffiDX® SARS-CoV-2 lateral flow rapid antigen test. Avacta will also support antigen testing in low and middle income countries by providing access to Avacta’s spike test through Mologic."
From that article this is one of the stand out statements to me, and something I've wondered about in regards to driving VRFB adoption.
"The South Korea-based company says its batteries’ advantages over lithium ion include less risk of ignition and the ease of sourcing vanadium. The latter is an important selling point, as electric vehicle makers face a potential shortage of lithium ion batteries."
Sasol has issued a Request for Proposals of electricity from renewable energy.

I think this sort of thing is going to become more prevalent. Hope VRFB's get their share!
Really drives home how BMN are a central enabler and leader in the VRFB space.
