Quality post Poptimist!
Your boundless (p)optimism for this share was one of the things that kept me going, and holding, during the painful summer months of 2020.
Really glad your dream came true, and that youre still around now to reap the benefits (I remember your rant the day before the SP started to take off (October?).
Im still long and strong and closing in on the £1M, having already passed the $1M mark.
What a flipping ride, eh! :-)
I've already explained to you that cash previously held in a Share Premium account can not be used that way. Please at least understand something before dismissing genuine comment as nonsense.
But, nevermind, I fully accept the PWs comment was related to consolidation rather than share buyback.
I would prefer not to consolidate, if you look at the data ARB has a lot of small trades, I believe a consolidated share price would put off quite a few who trade small amounts on no-commision platforms.
Got mine in my Barclays ISA, was easy enough to buy £10k a couple of weeks back.
Havent tried selling any yet (why would I), hopefully that's just as smooth when the time comes.
Hello all :)
Dont agree that a share buyback is negative at all.
LTHs will remember that the Share Premium account of £25M was drawn down last year. There are limitations as to what a company can legally do with this, a share buyback is one option (dividends being the principal other option).
Back when the MCap was only 25M itself a share buyback looked very attractive given the significant impact that amount of money could have, this effect is somewhat more limited now, nevertheless, a consistent and determined buyer in the market (as the company broker would be in this case) would help to stabilise some of the volatility and would keep an upward pressure on the SP.
I'm hoping PW willnseriously consider it, and I would rather the buyback than dividends at this stage.
This is the primary use case for Bitcoin, institutional/Government reserve holdings used as collateral for debt, similar to how gold is used atm.
Once the world has moved to digital currencies (during this decade imo), these reserves will be far more easily converted into 'real' currency than is the case today with gold.
BTC has genuine and immutable scarcity, is more portable, more convertible, has better physical security, and is massively more divisible and scalable than gold.
It WILL displace gold as the worlds reserve currency. The holding of Bitcoin will not only indicate wealth, it will also indicate power ... the drive to accumulate this limited resource by those who have/crave that power has only just begun. (Cue Karen Carpenter)
IMHO
If you're going to make this board a gold v bitcoin mouthpiece, you're going to lose out big time!
And at the moment there is no need, with the $ in such difficulties there is plenty of room for both Gold and Bitcoin to prosper.
Better to concentrate on the fundamental strengths of PAT rather than your misguided assessment of other asset classes.
IMHO
Well done Dave!
I bought some more at 35p last week so my average has now gone from 7.4 to 11p, so a bit of a way to go yet to match you (next week?).
Regarding the kids, bear in mind that the ARB price is currently leveraged against bitcoin, so you may be able to have your cake and eat it, so to speak. I have the same plan (and Ive got 3 kids so its not a small amount), but Im expecting that the % of ARB I need to sell to buy them will decrease over time, so even if BTC reaches $100,000 it should still be affordable.
Good luck!
The Yanks are currently valuing us at 21.5p, if I'm not mistaken. Will be interesting to see how this moves over the coming weeks and whether London tries to keep pace.
Could be fantastic arbritage opportunity, for those who know how, if not!
Been lurking around for a few months now, read the board regular but dont post much, holding my 0.25M bag at 7.4p average (after a couple of top ups in October), so well and truly in the Christmas spirit after the recent rises.
GL and Merry Christmas Argonauts!
