Yes, I was approximating I'm afraid.

The actual quote was much less than I showed in my earlier post.

I got into it a lot last Summer but have had to focus on other things recently leading me to put the whole thing on the back-burner, probably until next year now.

The quote was online and they've shut down the itemised breakdown so I'm guessing at the battery price.

There was a larger battery option, another third the capacity although the return seemed to be less when I calculated it out.

The price for that was more like yours, but this is the breakdown that's still visible to me:-

Standard System Price

£5,440.10

Extra Scaffolding

£300.00

Bird Protection

£550.00

Total System Price

£6,290.10

Excluding £0.00 VAT

Purchase Price

£6,290.10

Including £0.00 VAT

That was 10 x panels; 5kWh battery, invertor, and bird protection.

The generation figures were averaged out over the year.

The supplier reckons payback in seven years, I actually think it'll be sooner based on my knowledge of past use and estimated future use and changes.

But however I calculate it, it's all guesswork until I can see what's actually going on.

I happen to have a directly South-facing roof, but you don't even need that for solar to generate electricity.

The savings I showed are for a battery supported system on an average 3-bed house.

They're much lower without and obviously you'd be purely importing from the grid at night.

System would cost £5,000 without a battery, but there's no real value to it.

Solar doesn't work at night, because there is no sunlight.

But there are such modern inventions as 'battery storage'.

I have just postponed a solar system for my roof.

Ten panels and a 5kWh battery.

That will (when I eventually get it) cut my annual electricity bill by at least 2/3, including what I'll be selling back to the grid.

Cost = £6,200.

Saving £30,000, over 20 years.

Expected lifetime of 20-30 years.

I'm not a green, but why would anyone not consider this.

So popular in Europe now that some energy companies are refusing to import home generated electricity during low use periods.

They've no market for it.

I don't believe it was.

I have a significant BP holding in my portfolio.

I sold it all last April and have been buying it all back again recently (for a 25% profit btw).

It has been my largest single holding for some time, even though I've been trying to sell a lot of it off.

I am also very aware that UKOG has been keen on moving into hydrogen because everything else they've tried has failed.
