Aldi and Lidl are still growing 2 to 10 times faster than Tesco (depending on metrics used) and they're also doubling the number of lines (choice) they offer. Peak-Aldi and -Lidl is at least 10 years away. History shows, once German companies attack British companies, their superior management skills almost always win. Tesco will almost certainly lose to Aldi and Lidl in the longterm. Tesco is like a modernday British Leyland vs. VW, Audi and BMW.

Another British company is about to bite the dust and get shipped off abroad on the cheap...

UK is going post-retail and the industry is in freefall. Foreign brands are taking over, like Amazon and Lidl, and British brands are dead. Stay clear of retail.

Interesting stats out today, from Kantar, which show Tesco has lost more grocery marketshare in the past year up to Q1 2019. And Aldi has finally overtaken Morrisons by total customers and moved into 4th spot for the first time! The UK supermarket industry continues to go post-retail and to shrink. Not a good investment.

Will now wait for this to tumble down under 5p and buy back in. It's a good share, but India chaos is going to slam the shares down for now.

This is bad news for PAT. The charts suggest it could drift back down to the 3-5p range. They need cash, favourable laws, and a license. The uncertainty is going to hammer the shareprice down from here.

You're looking (right now) at the collapse of the British retail industry. British retail brands are in freefall. Foreign firms will own almost everything, from food to online, by the 2030s. The weak, like Debenhams, will get swept away.

As posted a few weeks back, the UK retail industry is dying and Britain is going post-retail. The Germans are taking over the supermarkets, and the Americans are taking over online. Debenhams is one casualty of that downtrend. Amazon is killing them.

Think of Debenhams as "British Leyland". A former giant, bumbling from one disaster to another, and slowly fading away. The end is not far away.

They just have a placing with greenfield investors every few quarters, to top up the pension fund for the prof and his (ridiculous) 5-10 staff.

There is no gold. No diamonds.

It is just the same old playbook of "expected resource", or "gold vein" or "diamond channel", followed by "placing for prospecting"... for the past 2 decades.

The prof chills out in the Finnish forest and Irish countryside for a few months, has a few jollies to Canada, and then returns to London every now and again for a placing.

BoE is forecasting best GDP growth for 3 years in the second half of 2019. A Brexit bounce is underway.

Total UK retail sales are now soaring +5%, earnings are leaping +4%, and inflation is tumbling below 2%.

UK is doing pretty good. Early signs of what some are calling a "Brexit trampoline".

Looks like regional UK airlines just can't attract the management talent to survive. FLYBMI was only packing an average of 18 passengers per flight last year, and its planes were 50-70% empty! They were flying to tiny airports with no passengers or collapsing local economies, like Derry and Aberdeen. Where the hell do they find these clowns.

Could bring minor, short-term relief to FLYB. A tiny bit less competition out there.
