Just compare the fundamentals of POLY with Australian gold and silver miner Newcrest, Revenue=$4207m underlying profit=$872m net debt=$1325m divi of 27cents per share, But the important one which is the market capital=$21b, And this is regarded as a bargain as it is in talks to be taken over by another miner Newmont. Just an indication of the potential that POLY could have in the future, God willing.
There is currently a growing number of countries that have decided to reduce or exit the dollar in their reserves in favour of the yen and or gold, i think this is going to be a big driver for the gold price in the very near future, So i am not going to be in a rush to sell my POLY shares on small percentage rises in the near future.
just feel confident, and you will be rewarded.
Yes sold my last block yesterday at a large loss, time to move on and buy into stocks that have more potential for growth, with hopefully a BOD that can be trusted ? Wish all gemd shareholders luck in the future.
Just a little warning to investors not to trust information given out by financial web sites, Today the info states that £10,031 shares in GEMD where sold, i have sold £16,130 of shares today in GEMD not to mention other sellers so i question the data published ? Not a surprise ?
I very very very much doubt that the current GEMD bod has any intention of taking on another company or expansion whatsoever, its just not their bag, they just want to sit back and cream off any profits into their private accounts, with no regard for share holder returns or value, this has been the case for many years, Hence investors have no confidence in this company. imho. would love to be proved wrong. this company is tightly sewn up.
I think there is some confusion here, Cash at bank dec 2021 = $20.9 m not debt, cash at bank dec 2020 =$49.82 not debt, if a small company like Gemd are making a good profit year on year, it does not make sense that they have considerable less cash at bank year on. Like i have said where has the money gone ?
Please take into consideration that whatever the cash estimate might be,after taking the bod costs and expenses into account the bottom line for investors will be very disapoiontlly low hence the year on year trend in the share price .
Hi davethehorse, Yes i still have a fairly large holding ,i have that fear that if i sell my holding and a few days later a bid comes in, it would take me a long time to get over it, as i have lost a lot of money to date, even if a bid does come in it is unlikely that i will get all my money back. I should have stuck to day trading its less painful and more fun.
Total assets are important but what really matters are net assets, it doesn't matter if GEMD has assets of $800m if half of it is in short or long debt, then this would be less favourable to a predator. I find it hard to believe that the $511m is accumulated losses but i could be wrong, either way $511m showing anywhere on the balance sheet of a £77m mkt cap company should be of some concern.
Can anyone shad any light on why GEMD have got such a high retained earnings neg balance ie (511.81) for 2020, For a company with a market cap of about £77 m does look a bit worrying ? Its been near this level for 5 years or so. Any comments would be welcome.
It would be financial advantage for someone to takeover GEMD for circa £0.90 to £1.20 but the big question is why has it not happened, i brought in about eleven years ago with this in mind and its still a mystery ? I suppose living in hope is not a bad strategy.
