BuckWheat99 your logic is missing the following.
1) Any volume selling by the owners on the market would drive the price so low as to return nothing to them. Given they got in at varying levels around the £1 mark such a strategy would be the equivalent of throwing it all away.
2) All result and reserves are audited (see below). Any "greater fool" as you so mysteriously put it would have if necessary the ability to obtain full recourse not only through the sellers but also the auditors.
Auditors - PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP
Reserves Auditor - DeGolyer and MacNaughton
3) Your obsession with not recognising the audited reserves is baseless. The owners though not entirely happy to redirect funds to RPO unless essential will not see it as chucking good money after bad, more as a case of tying up funds that they could use elsewhere.
RPOs only fault is that they tried to develop these licenses on the cheap. Hitting such large quantities of gas instead of oil didn't help since this requires greater capital outlay, however most importantly luck has been on their side in that they have been able to significantly increase the size of audited reserves. Since recognising their true situation and realising they need help with the drilling they have brought in Schlumberger and that partnership is now starting to pay off in terms of increasing barrels per day production, hence alleviating cashflow and facilitating their ability to continue drilling.
So while the big negative is the outstanding dept, short term cashflow and sanctions due to Ukraine, the positives which massively outweigh this are:
1) Fantastic Reserves
2) Directors whose interests are focused by having very significant holdings in the company
3) Rich and very influential shareholders whom have been willing to put their hands in their pockets in the past
4) High quality management team full of experience industry professionals
5) Good relationship with their creditors
At 11.5p this is a steal and a clear illustration of how market makers can drive down a low volume stock in order to scare investors. By reading other posters on this board however I feel that in this case however they have made the mistake that all resource company owners can be bullied in the same way and to them I say, better luck next time, we're not selling.
