One issue I see, as regards new contracts, is dry-dock space. If required for a longer period for new builds/refurbishing contracts. Belfast, maybe not so much, but Appledore is if full, atm. Unless it can be done quayside that is. Which in the case of the the two minesweeps currently in the dry dock is not possible as any GRP work has to be done under cover. Maybe once that part of the job is finished they could be moved over to the Newquay yard for completion. I say this as they recently, from what I was told, had to turn down maintenance work on the MS Oldenburg, due to limited dock space. Shame, as it's quite an well know ship around these parts and one that I hoped they could have worked on when they took the yard over. Instead it has to go all the way up to Sharpness. Maybe next time.
The crux being, could they fit one in before any work is started on this latest FSS contract. When/(small if) signed.
Thinking of the new Scillonian, if they ever make a final decision on it, that is.
For those that are new here.

Appledore built the older, current one, that's still in service. Just. :)
