My take on it fwiw, is that it was, for want of a better term, just some kind of finders fee from Navantia to H&W.
Without a UK partner they would have not had a chance to be involved in the first place, imo. So putting this £77m up as a sweetner for their involement was their way in. I recall Ben W. mentioning this investment favourably, in so much that the other consortia wouldn't be making similar investment into UK infrastructure/shipyards. It was almost his way of justifying using a non-UK partner. I would imagine Navantia could afford to drop £77m from their profit margin over the period of the contract and not have to worry too much.

Yes, that word "acquired" always stuck out for me. I've always thought that it maybe part of the £55m deal to do the Quorn.

Found this from a TDC meeting at the time.

"On 12th October, a second ex RN minehunter, HMS ATHERSTONE was brought into the Harland and Wolff shipyard, this vessel for use as a source of spares for ex HMS QUORN on a “combine 2 bad vessels to make 1 good one” basis. Intentions for the disposal of the remaining GRP hull after work is complete is unknown."

Last I heard it was going to be used as a private yacht. Before that it was going down to the south coast to be used by the MOD for a floating training center/office block. Not sure if we are actually doing the conversion ourselves or just passing it on after we are done with it.

I don't know, is the honest answer. Maybe when a certain amount of time has passed AFTER the thing is actually signed or when the "proposed" debt refinancing is in place. Obviously not yet as I still get twitchty if there is an RNS.

Historically, it's what they do, repeatedly, regardless of contract size or RNS's of great things to come.
So, anticipating, yes. Will they? Well, we will not know until they either do or they don't. By which time it's usually too late.
Decimating the share price and releasing a huge amount of shares has never been a problem before, tbh.
So, invest according to your own interpretation, i guess. You will either miss out or get caught out.

Like the multi-screen format, didn't know that was an option. I just have multiple tabs open for anything I'm following and just change the interval as required.

TBH Dia, I've seen the sort of acerbic criticism leveled at people before for just mentioning charts or the use of TA. So I tend not to bother. It's a bit Marmite, shall we say. :) There is always negative types about. I'm probably one, elsewhere. lol You do get to that point when after years and years of waiting, nothing happends. Got to vent sometimes, I guess.

Anyhoo, yesterday was a bit odd, it dropped quite quickly below the trend line, around midday, and kept going until close.
I was focused elsewhere so only had half an eye on it at the time. I expected it to recover first thing this morning back up to the higher 1.50's - 1.60 and carry on it's slow decline. When I noticed it had dropped below 1.40 briefly I thought I'ld take advantage and it just so happens I'd taken profit from elsewhere so used some of that. Have always done well with getting any below 1.50 so why not. And I needed to get the average down a bit.

It's always good to get feedback from others as regards this kind of stuff. I've kind of made it work for me in my own way. More for timing of trades than anything else. So thanks for asking. :)
