Been seeing some bad press about the Elsevier research and publishing part of the business in the last couple of weeks, worth keeping an eye on, as this has been a bone of contention before. Been in KIBO for many years, losses are significant, I believed that they could actually do something with their assets, I even remember when they built a bloody school somewhere in Africa to schmooze the local politicians.... All complete fakery, designed to build a salary chain and lifestyle for the execs on the board, most of whom should be in prison for their skullduggery. More fool me for believing them. If you invest in this or anything to do with the current execs/board, expect to lose your money. They will just string it out for the salary and pension contributions. Thieves.

Already seeing it happening in my company (FTSE 100), and several other colleagues with senior management positions similar to mine have indicated that they see the trend growing further. None of them will actively make people redundant, but they will simply pause hiring in the UK, and start to build out teams in India, the Philippines, and potentially Vietnam. This combined with automation is likely to cause high unemployment, so if you have kids, get them to qualify as plumbers, brickies, tilers and bathroom fitters.. This is going to be a tipping point, and when combined with a mass exodus of cash belonging to those who are globally mobile I can see a lot of investment in the Middle East coming..

Really positive messaging in terms of dividend and buy back but I would like to see more of a focus on debt reduction to insulate the business from any other travel industry impacting shenanigans.... Either way, very happy it's moving in the right direction, I bought the same value shares in both IAG and RR post covid and having watched one do astronomically well, and the other languish it's nice for the patience to finally pay off...

Beautiful car but probably the worst investment you will make. Magneti Marelli electrics - (The prince of darkness), and bodywork made of Mama Gitelli's cast off cooking tin foil.... Buy a torch, a fully equipped garage and shares in Isopon. BTW - I actually own a Fiat X1 a Lancia Delta Integrale, so unlike investments I know what I am talking about....

I think £2.50 is a reasonable goal, they really need to continue to focus on paying down debt it they want the price to go beyond that, too much risk otherwise. On the war stories front I currently have £30k of losses tied up in suspended shares, thank god for RR, IAG, and a few other recovery shares, the portfolio looks good apart from Two large Red blobs right in the middle of it. You live and learn, getting to an age in life where I am not taking big risks, current portfolio certainly looks like it will provide a good fun budget!

Interesting response to a single unit failure, a single airline replacing parts - Sounds like an airline specific maintenance schedule issue to me, and not an endemic issue across all engines of that type. Suspect they will rebound tomorrow, I will see if I can get in early doors to pick up a few more at this price. Be nice to see £5.50 by XMAS.

Fortunately (depending on how you look at it) I split my investment between RR and IAG. So on RR, currently up 350%, but IAG down about 4%. I wouldn't be retiring on a full investment profit from the RR investment, but it would go a whole way towards an earlier decision. I am convinced there is life in IAG, but the boardroom silence is not helping, and some positive reports, and not messing about with Air Europa would definitely help the situation. Pay off debts, return a small dividend, and this could definitely fly - Probably not as much as RR though....

A lot of the tech companies have been trying to get in to RELX pants for years. So far they have held out, and only have some strategic agreements with a few. They certainly hold their crown jewels and content close to their chests, which is a good thing as they are very good at leveraging this across all of their business areas. Would take one hell of a large acquisition to buy out RELX. Can't see it happening, but you never know these days. (To be honest a shed load of Elsevier content is available on dodgy Chinese web sites through compromised/sold accounts, but thats the same with Taylor and Francis, and many of the other publishers as well).

Anyone seen any news on the suspension and when we are likely to be back on the field of play? Seems like "crickets" to me at the moment. Will be in the middle of the Atlantic for the next couple of weeks so zero mobile signal, be nice to have a warm fuzzy feeling to go with...

Lets hope that this also involved giving Rolls Royce the contract to build the first Small Nuclear Reactors that will need to be connected to that electricity Grid by "National Grid" Happy days on all fronts for British companies (well those listed on the LSE anyway).

The only reason he would give it to another country is if he is trying to kiss ass with someone like the French and their Nuclear technology companies. My only concern is that he might do something like that to secure their cooperation in stopping the small boat problem we have (although I have a suspicion he might not see it as a problem). Not giving this contract - The go ahead with RR would be an absolute National Disgrace. As things stand and from my reading of the research and progress made, it's only really RR and possibly a very small consortium of US manufacturers who are anywhere near testing the technology in a safe, and planned way, with any real guarantees of success. Starmer better make the right decision on this one after his day 1 speech or he risks losing credibility in the first months of office.

Completely agree, an update or a holding position with a date for a date when they will provide an up date would be useful. Silence is worrying. and before anyone says anything I have a shed load of these shares, and I am sitting on a significant loss (Decent 2nd hand Porsche sized)

Hard to know how many have actually been scrapped as most sites which detail this are inconsistent. Most are mothballed in dry deserts somewhere, so no reason they can't come back in to service with some nice Fat RR engines under each wing, and start clocking up the miles again. Nice big fat reliable plane which is very safe, and very profitable when it's full.

Pretty sure that market leaks will price it in... You know how it goes. Suddenly the share price goes up for no reason, and then about 10 days later they make a positive announcement and nothing happens as those who were not supposed to know, did know, and priced it in through paying over the odds early, driving up the share price. The Fool, and other analysts will be about 3 months behind that in their commentary, some folks will react to that BS, and buy in, only to make a loss as the share progressively drifts until other news is released.. Hi folks it's cynical Monday btw!

And unlike some content providers they haven't sold their soul to the big tech companies so they can trawl their crown jewels using AI.....

People taking profits. That's how the market works with a growth share with no dividend. I sold at the trading start, and just bought back in. Effectively gave me an additional 260 shares for the same money. May do the same if the market looks right.
