The thing I particularly like about this statement is ; " We are also encouraged that institutional investors are investing at the market price" The word to note is "investing" and this refers to the placing at 22.5p so this wasn't just about fund raising and not a forward sale as some have suggested. On this point good to note there hasn't been any reported selling from the 72%, but it would be nice to have an updated voting rights RNS and perhaps we'll get that tomorrow.

I have always been of the opinion that this will go to the Chinese. Citic were an adviser, but they also have a mining investment and management arm and as a group have more cash than they know what to do with and assets of HK$8,290 billion. I think they have used their insider knowledge of the business to their advantage and turned poacher from gamekeeper. Couple that with the stated strategy of the Chinese govt re buying up of primary resource assets and it makes quiet a compelling argument methinks.

Shorters massively burned during August, quote from Citywire today; "it is estimated that short sellers lost around £420m on FTSE 100 companies last month (August)." They also list the most shorted stocks in the FTSE100 and most of them are in oil companies, plus things like TUI and Sainsburys. No detail on AIM stocks unfortunately.

No funkysausage (great moniker by the way), it was due to a 3 million share sell in the morning at 20.4p, don't know if it was a short or someone offloading. But given it was a big number timed to ride on the negative general US led sell off, I suspect it was a short, if so then the strategy was well executed. Don't like shooters though.
