BP and Shell are ridiculously undervalued by the market - I have added more in both. I've abandoned by general rule of not having more than 20% of portfolio in 1 sector due to this but this price is unjustified even in the context of the travel restrictions - this is short term. In a year, the world will be moving and currently only oil does this effectively. In 20 years, it will be a different story but currently I'm buying. I do agree though about the general sentiment about the CE - this tree hugging needs to be toned down - BP is an oil company as it says on the tin. Mr L had best read the name again of the company he is leading.

All talk of going bust can be put to bed and we move on. Short term SP fluctuation will not be an issue. Buy up those deeply discounted shares and wait a few years for a solid return. RR will emerge leaner and more diversified after the pandemic. ATB.

What I don't get is who is selling. No short position showing and yet it's at an all time low so anyone selling is doing so at a loss. Presumably to try and buy back cheaper. Or is there something I'm missing?

Is a deep discount and will be why a lot of shorts will close as they don't want to hold over RI period. This retrace was expected. IMO this will have more ups and downs and should settle pre-RI around 215-230. All this talk of 50 pre-RI is wishful thinking or scare tactics. Post RI of course it will drop but those holding will have significantly lower averages (provided they participate). So either sell or hold but DYOR and don't be swayed by the repeated doom stories or the pot of gold stories. It will be somewhere in between and mostly dependant on how the pandemic unfolds - which nobody knows yet. ATB

Whatever is happening is crazy. Been investing for about 12 years now and apart from a brief foray back to AIM for BOO investment for a short period, swore to stay off AIM due to the wild west nature. FTSE listed company being manipulated this way is just crazy. The FCA need to investigate or risk people losing faith in the stock market. I'm cool with capitalism but am not cool with racketeering. This feels like the wild west.

Well, mulled it over the weekend, done more research and cannot see a reason for this drift down apart from sentiment. That should turn in time. Only issue is can SAGA survive this period - which I am pretty sure they can. Hence this SP is oddly low so there we are. In for a penny and all that.....good luck all.

Interesting reading the very logical posts here. I am of the same opinion and have been adding on top of taking up my RI. What is bothering me is what am I missing? The SP dip to 10.5 is a worry. Will hold and probably add, but thoughts welcome. ATB

There are people on this forum predicting all sort of doom scenarios. Scared a lot of PIs into selling at a massive loss. All its done is help shorters close their positions. It's so transparent. What I can't quite believe is they are still here says the same rubbish. Don't expect honesty here. It's infected by very unscrupulous types. Sad really as it could be a good place for PIs to exchange ideas and learn.
Lse n3ed to sort this or become extinct. And the authorities need to ban shorting. It breeds the worst in people.

Had to pick myself when my holding turned green. Was expecting it to take a few years. Anyway, glad I averaged down enough. I've hedged and sold half and will keep rest in for the ride. ATB and remember trust no one, esp those who claim to be never wrong. You know who I mean.

JL79 - Feel for you. Many in the same boat and even more will have been hovering over the sell button since then. You've got to do what feels right for you. I've made equally bad decisions (in hindsight).
Anyway, for what its worth, if you are already out, i'd personally wait until post RI. I'm holding as still underwater and will take up my full RI and sit out the 3-5 years it will take to get back to a good position. 10 for 3 RI at 32p is a good deal long term and a lot of funds know this and probably why short positions will have been closing.... so stick or twist is why investing is not for the faint hearted. Sorry not sure if i've helped or confused you more!!

Lithium - PI's don't really make much difference to SP in large companies - funds control the SP and will do what they will - PI's can just try and follow the trends. IMO

Funny that. GS shy away from participating fully in underwriting RI and then buy stock when it drops.

Robsaunders, can be the only option in terms of merger as the Govt will block any overseas take over - correctly in my book. Will be good merger as RR is being shrunk due to a short term problem and needs protecting for the good of the UK's long term engineering base. BAE will provide a protection against this short term, all be it devastating economic shock.

Agree, a bid is possible but not likely from Sir R. The current SP is a huge surprise I have to admit. A lot of shares are in the hands of people who will not sell so eventually when it turns it will be a swift and sharp upturn. Sentiment is starting to shift in relation to cruises so may not be long. That's the hope and why I've taken up my entire RI and added sub 11. I feel this is pretty secure now and am content with my holding.

Wiggly, Not an unreasonable shout and why not. If you were Sir Roger, this would be a sensible move. The BoD will have to answer some tough Q's about rejecting outright the 33p offer but 28p is still a massive premium to today's SP so I suspect it will get voted through...
