It looks like its being pursued by Newmont Mining. Normandy Mining was teh largest gold mining company in Australia. It was taken over by Newmont in a record deal that made Newmont the largest Gold producer in the world.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the Normandy Mining team coming to AUM?

I think you may well be right - a new team from Newmont and Normandy - At the time Newmont became the largest gold producer in the world - 22% holding in AUE - New teams has 70 million options - AUE is capitalised at 1.5million - I think there could be planty of upside from these levels

From another board. Asparks - i've just double checked it and out by a factor of 10! Ur correct the 31.3mill shares placed was for $1mill and the other $8.5mill share purchase. REH holdings - Not $32mill but around $3.5mill.

That is the figure suggested for its stake in carnegie. Have they any other investments because the current market cap looks ridiculous at 1.15million!
