I have been looking at the mycaresupermarket website and as most will know up until a couple of weeks ago it was a pilot project with Salvere in the Preston/Wigan area- hence what you see regarding the suppliers on the website. I have been checking the companies in the press release from 3 weeks ago, as well as the Twitter feed, and only around 50% of the names mentioned have had their products uploaded onto the website so they have a backlog of suppliers to put on. Many of the new names are from different geographical areas and so worth keeping an eye on over the next few weeks on how they roll it out.
With it being NHS backed via Salvere there seems a decent barrier to entry. If it becomes the go-to site for Care in parallel with a separate NHS platform then you only need to look at a company like moneysupermarket.com with a market valuation of £1.7bn to understand the upside. The jury is out. The US investor increasing his stake over 11% has taken a view. Looks like a classic tale of great British tech innovation but the real money will be made by people in the US.
