All that remains now is for BMN to confirm whether Vanadium is the preferred option and , if as we suspect, it is - who is supplying the vanadium.
Powerful message from the Chair of the Development Bank of Southern Africa who shares his two year plan to solve the energy crisis in South Africa by installing 10GW of wind/solar supported by 5GWh of LDES .

I recall Fortune musing that VRFB could capture 10-20% of the LDES in Southern Africa?
@mark001 - many thanks for your support.
@markinvestor - many thanks for your support.
@Pdub - many thanks for your support.
Harrimmm - I find your comments on Frank Spencer a little disparaging TBH.
I agree that we have seen most of the slides before.
However, as an investor - and especially for a new investor, it is good to see them consolidated into one presentation. Not every investor has the time or inclination to wade through numerous media reports or RNS as part of their due diligence. More importantly these slides have been endorsed by BMN which reinforces their value when considering investment decisions.
I can only apologise if you feel you “knew all this before” but I will continue to post for the benefit of the wider BB community.
You will of course know the following:
~ That the capacity of the electrolyte facility will initially be 200MWh
~ That the output can be taken to 400MWh by simply “double shifting”
~ That the output could be doubled again within 6 months incrementally
~ That the major constraint for VRFB deployments just now is the availability of electrolyte
~ That the lead in time from order to delivery of a VRFB system is 12 months
~ That the BELCO facility is the largest in terms of capacity outside of China
~ That off take agreements for our electrolyte are currently being signed for export outside SA
~ That we are supporting IPPs in their bids for VRFB deployments as part of the Eskom procurement programme
It’s always better to see the evidence for yourself rather than rely on hearsay don’t you think?
Best wishes fellow investor.
Really insightful 71 page presentation from Bushveld Energy’s Head of Deployments - Frank Spencer:

Where might the vanadium come from I wonder for 36GWh?
Look no further than the slide that Frank Spencer recently presented.

Largo appear to be stating that vanadium sold to the VRFB market will provide twice the revenue of that sold to the steel market.
Everything points to next year being the start of the VRFB revolution.
VSUN (AVL) and VCharge (LGO) replicating the vertical integration model with leasing functionality introduced to the market by BMN.

RNS of today has interesting comment on their converting their projects in Africa to clean/renewable energy.
This has to be good news for VRFB given their partnership with CellCube to deliver 1GWh of storage in South Africa over the next 5 years?

Looks like the SA Government now realise that mining companies and the like need assistance to push through their EIAs for mini-grid projects.
What is interesting is that 58 projects are involved thus far totalling 4.5GW!

Minimum 1GW of #VRFB storage in Southern African Development Community - that’s up to 16 countries!

Looks like they are no longer in top 5 shareholders!
I think it is worth underlining that Duferco selling is not necessarily a reflection on their confidence in BMN. We sold our share in IES making multiples in profit in much the same way - without diluting our underlying confidence in the business model.

Interesting to see investment being made to increase charging times AND extending life cycle of Lithium cells using anodes made of vanadium. Use of these anodes improves both by 20x!

With rental options now on the table - the CAPEX is reduced in favour of managed OPEX.
All possible on account of recyclability of vanadium.
Not feasible with Lithium.
“Cobalt and other raw materials important for lithium-ion battery production have also gone up in price, but it is lithium carbonate prices, which have “quintupled since last August,” that present a massive issue”
