This is happening in California as the grid struggles to face the demands of electric vehicles.
What a nonsense!

66GW of solar offered by Chinese to South Africa.
The Chinese commitment to VRFB makes this an exciting proposition given the next stage of talks must surely be storage?

Albeit he mentions LARGO - the publicity cannot be a bad thing.
Apparently he is very excited by the VRFB story.

I have updated the spreadsheet to reflect two electrolyte production companies that I was not aware of until messaged via Twitter.
The short term demand for vanadium is or will be 40,000 mtV or 33% of current global production.
I have not increased Vecco to 175MWh as I believe that it is way off as the CTech plant has only just been shipped and only had capacity for 30-50MWh.
CRU estimates for 2030 appear to be very conservative at <40%.

A breakdown of published electrolyte production aspirations post 2023 show a massive demand of nearly 40,000 mtV representing 30+% of CURRENT worldwide production.
Very interesting to see just how many companies have advanced plans for electrolyte production.
This figure does not include the potential of BELCO to x4 or VECCO GROUP to x10.
These are all near term aspirations!

C-Tech (who we suspect have supplied BELCO) have just announced the dispatch of a 2 million litre vanadium electrolyte plant.
Unfortunately the press release is protected.
I suspect it is for the Vecco Group in Queensland, Australia - who have announced their aspiration to increase production ten fold as demand for VRFB increases. That’s 500MWh per annum - requiring around 2,700 mtV! Current global production is 120,000 mtV.

London - I think you are right in your thinking. I think all VRFB OEMs are in the same position ATM. Massive demand which may/may not be capable of being fulfilled without massive investment to fund production. Frankly, this issue doesn’t appear to be too much of a hurdle for the main players.
Also you will recall that AVL had an MOU with Cellcube for the supply of vanadium.
Very interesting:

2GWh per annum - representing 8-10% of GLOBAL PRODUCTION!
The monetisation of Mokopane may not be far away once the financials of the current operation is demonstrated?

Technology Metals have data to suggest that 70% of annual supply of vanadium will be taken up by VRFB by 2040. This is the company who are partnered with LE for electrolyte production of 5,000 cubic metres. Very positive <5minute interview. Not to be missed.
