The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring Jeremy Skillington, CEO of Poolbeg Pharma has just been released. Listen here.
F&M,
Your observation about adversity and, specifically, per ardua ad astra (the motto of the RAF) is well made.
Especially in a couple of days when there have been some nefarious characters spitting bile on the BB.
John Magee was not RAF, he was Canadian Airforce and killed in WWII. But he wrote a great poem, High Flight, (below) and every time I hear the phrase per ardua ad astra, I am always minded of this beautiful poem. And it makes me think of the PRD journey.
High Flight
"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of – wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,
I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air....
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace.
Where never lark, or even eagle flew —
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
– Put out my hand, and touched the face of God."
MEM.
Have a go at me under English libel laws. Please bring it on. You will discover that I really do know what I am doing.
I still think you are front-runner for a***hole of the year. even ahead of Little Nige because you, as a pilot (glorified taxi driver) have a patina of polish that that ludicrous fool lacks and are thus more likely to sucker people in (no-one takes that ludicrous fool seriously but they do you - because you often write great stuff).
But then you get de-railed with attacking GRH - who achieved infinitely more in his career than driving around a plane on autopilot.
I would further observe, MEM, that in your seemingly determined course to be awarded a***hole of the year, that you had a "private" conversation on the phone with GRH - and then spilt contents of said "private" conversation all over this BB.
Some on here may have forgotten your disgraceful conduct in that episode.
Readers of the BB should be aware that, whilst you occasionally write some good stuff, the reality is that your behaviour is much more often more consistent with a spiv or a pimp.
MAJ,
Your petty and puerile attacks on GRH are not to the benefit of anyone here, except, maybe, your paymasters.
There may need to be a placing.
Given the scale of the VALUE of the assets assembled, the quality of the team and the likely monetisation structures (special dividend, etc) any such placing is likely to be massively VALUE-accretive.
Placings are not to be worried about in the context of the quantum of the destination.
VALUE.
Quite possibly massive VALUE.
Patience will be well rewarded.
KeithOz,
I love classic corporate finance (Brealey & Myers would be right up there with Hugo's Les Miserables, Hardy's Mayor of Casterbridge, Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged, Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea on my bookshelf).
Your explanation and analysis was a total masterclass.
Well done.
And I learnt at the feet of the greatest in the game (John Thornton, Jon Aisbitt, Robert Rubin).
Stands steady the Buffs.
SP, in the short term. does not really matter much.
What matters is crystallisable VALUE.
It looks to me that PG, LB and Moyra are doing a cracking job on delivering precisely that.
Ignore nappy-wetters and/or paid trolls.
Have a good weekend all.
Looking at posting histories is usually a useful indicator of likely quality of content.
One only need to look at Barnyards' history to feel that he/she/it/whatever may need a dedicated line on their own to the sewage treatment plant.
Herbert van Karajan would be proud....
It definitely looks to me like something is being orchestrated.
So be it, that is sometimes how the game is played.
I give not an aviating fig. All I focus on is the end destination. VALUE.
I usually try to avoid this fool's posts.
But there may be some people new to this BB who may not knew the various characters.
I would suggest then that you may have a look at my posting history (it goes back 3 years now).
And have a look at the posting histories of GRH, Methodology, Seabright, BRV, Caterham, Jimmy23, MickTrick, Vegas.
And then have a look at Little Nige's posts.
You can take whatever view you want.. if you compare and contrast.
And you may need to load up on extra loo paper after reading Little Nige's purported contributions....
