This announcement from Smart Eye looks like the largest driver monitoring contract awarded so far in terms of number of design wins. Based on the information given and partnerships seeming to form, it could be Ford, with Bosch as tier one and possibly Ambarella as the chip provider. The win looks to be related to satisfying #NCAP and EU #GSR requirements.
But even reasonably allowing for double counting across regions, how can you get to 53 car models for Ford? A clue might lie in the specific wording in the release, which says "up to" 53 new car models.
The previous announcement summarizes "Smart Eye has now received a total of 141 design wins from 17 OEMs," compared with this announcement which says "Smart Eye has now received a total of up to 194 design wins from 18 OEMs." So, the addition of the words "up to" is new.
What is interesting is that the last two wins together total 87 models, for revenues of SEK 1150 million. This equates to a "revenue per model" of about SEK 13 million per model won,
which is towards the bottom end of all the wins Smart Eye has declared. That implies the two latest wins are either low volume or low price (ASP).
The Board of Directors in Smart Eye intends to resolve on a fully covered rights issue of approximately SEK 325 million.
