The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring Jeremy Skillington, CEO of Poolbeg Pharma has just been released. Listen here.
@Morbox, just hope the settlement doesn't actually come out in January. If it does and it is seriously good or seriously bad it may test your resolve!
or stealing the process maybe? can you reverse engineer these things?
@Jbongo & @Intrusivethought....many thanks
Well trying the 'get someone else to manufacture and we'll just collect royalties' route didn't pan out too well did it?. Nanoco claim to have in Runcorn a plant that can produce £100m of product a year almost ready to go. They would be daft not to use it! It would be a total waste of resources. However I accept that if they can find trustworth partners then maybe that would allow uch faster expansion - so ideally I would like to see a mix. I guess I want my cake and to eat it!
While we are waiting for other news I wondered whether anyone had ideas about who is the major asian chemical factory BT mentioned nanoco were trying to produce new materials for. And not only who, but anyone got ideas of what sort of material(s) we might be trying to produce for them?
"Ginodog, thanks on behalf of everyone for contacting Edison. I guess there is a lesson for many of us here. If someone says or writes something ambiguous and we aren't sure what is meant ... we should probably ask for clarrification rather than unilaterally assume one or other meaning.
sorry 22-6 = 16 not 14 my mistake.
Not sure but I read it as clock started on 6th january so day one ends on 7th January and we are currently only on Jan 22. so 7=1 day complete, 8=2 days complete (each time take away 6) so.22=14 days complete. To mean that means the last possible date is still `14 days away? Someone quick check our maths. One of us ha got it wrong! Ha ha - they will probably just extend it anyway.
Botbot I've missed your daily update, but have you got it right? I thought we were counting from Friday 6 th January at middnight so isn't today more like day 16 or maybe still day 15 (US time). That means there are still two full weeks to go!
It may be just paranoia but I have the feeling we have not yet seen some important part of the puzzle. I think something changed as the trial approached. It could be Samsung realised they need Nanoco for something and/or want to cooperate with Nanoco on some future work hence Samsung have been willing to be flexible about the settlement (ie. offered more money/better terms). Conversley it may be that Nanoco has important plans not involving Samsung (such as a major display contract or a an especially new way of producing QDs or just much better QDs ) and needed the litigation out of the way before they could proceed (with their patents confirmed by the settlement) to make potentially serious money. So maybe Samsung raised their offer or maybe Nanoco lowered their red line level of acceptance. I don't claim to know which. I will hold until I see the deal and praise or critiscise the Board based on real information not on rumours and conjectures. In one area specifically I do agree with GigaWitt (if I have understood him correctly) - the real prize is the organic growth in the business, the settlement may be best seen as an enabler to allow Nanoco to move on to bigger and more profitable things.
@Nanonano, thanks
I am trying not to focus too much on this high/low settlement discussion. Of course I am extremely interested but I just don't think we will have any answers until the final settlement is announced. So focussing on the possible use of our products in Apple's upcoming VR goggles, in several places I have seen mention of these goggles as being a cut down version of Apple's now delayed AR glasses. Specifical some articles have suggested the bits cut out might be related to cameras and more importantly sensors ( link to just one of these articles is: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/apple-replacing-its-ar-glasses-with-a-cheaper-vr-headset-is-the-right-call/ar-AA16txyU) . Does anyone who knows about these things know whether this means (a) there aren't likely to be as many sensors used or (b) there is risk that the goggles (as distinct from the oft delayed glasses) might not have any of the IR sensors at all.? Thanks!
If it's that complex they should get the person who wrote the last RNS to write the contract
@troublesome, more importantly has anyone seen botbot, I can't remember how many days to go and I need my daily reminder!
I am beginning to think a certain person on this board is trying to sound the voice of reason but is actually trying to tank the SP, and is really as buyer. Beware any specific figures on this board both the high ones and the low ones. The truth is none of us have a real clue including Edison.
I don't think we have any idea whether Loam will in the future under any specific circumstances be sellers or may be buyers. At different times and share prices they may be both buyers and sellers depending on their assessment of Nanoco's prospects compared to other opportunities they see in the market.
I'm not sure why Samsung would do that now. I am still assuming the main outline of a deal have been fully agreed. Now they just need to slot in numbers of sales (past and future and argue about the future ones quite a bit) as well as agree the discounting of future sales for time value. I suspect there are not many issues left, but they are difficult ones and they probably include legal aspects of interactions with other third party companies.. After that I assume they will both want peace, and who knows, later they may even want co-operation. Nanoco's current pre-settlement share price now will be of little concern to Samsung unless they decide to buy the company, which is possible but unlikely in my view.
My guess is that we won't get knowledge of a settlement until the end of the full 30 days and indeed I do not rule out an extention. That said I think the probability of an early settlement is greater than zero. Given that tomorrow is the last working day before the Asian (lunar) New Year there must be a slightly higher probability of the settlement being announced over the coming weekend (after the market closes) than at other times before the 30 day settlement period is up. I won't hold my breath but given all the uncertainty I wouldn't be adverse to an early announcement. I know, probably too optimistic!
Nanonano, although the article you linked to was interesting, the timelines in it (yes more than one) seemed to be all over the place. And the article itself suggested caution about dates, Once the settlement with Samsung has been fully announced any significant time gap until Nanoco gets firm orders for something or other could leave the SP very vulnerable.
HL is just a company that holds individual people's share holding. (Like mine).. It's nothing like LOAM. Neither are some of the other companies you are probably referring to.
