I finally got a reply from my MP, it couldn't have been any blander if he'd tried. I strongly suspect he didn't actually write it, certainly didn't do any sort of investigation whatsoever.
"It is of the upmost importance that we have a well-regulated financial market and good access to financial education for those who choose to invest.
The SNP is in favour of a robust regulatory framework to ensure that the UK is not vulnerable to a re-run of the 2008 financial crisis.
As the scope of online financial services has grown rapidly in recent years, so has wider access to the ability to invest. This has inevitably created new concerns about individuals’ knowledge of what they are choosing to invest in.
The ability invest has become much more accessible to a wider audience and with that there are greater risks of individuals making risky investments without the knowledge of the financial consequences of these trades not working in their favour.
There needs to be better financial education for the implications of investing.
Whilst investing is a great way for households to increase their savings and incomes, people should be made aware and comfortable of the level of risk associated with investing in the stock market and should be willing and aware of the possibility that they may lose what they have invested."
Apologies guys, I've been of the loop for a few days and just looked in here.
I'm assuming that the leaked report doesn't back up the oil volumes RNA'd? Is that the case? If so I'm feeling totally gutted, he must not get away with this.
Also makes you wonder about the JV. Was it really going on for a year? I know CAG says it was real but did the partner bow out a while ago and AM just kept it stringing along?

This bit's a bit clumsy
So far, the plot has been very successful and their previous "Playbook" accordingly. This is evidenced by the collapse of the company's share price and market value.
Hello Mr Blackford
I wanted to bring to your attention a petition that has been raised regarding shorting of shares and the impact on one company in particular.
Make short selling shares illegal in the UK - Petitions (parliament.uk)
Canadian Overseas Petroleum Ltd is a company which came to my attention about 4 years ago as a potential investment. It subsequently announced it had made a large discovery of oil in mainland US and all looked well.
Fast forward to today and we find a company that, despite one of the largest oil finds in modern history, languishes suspended and apparently worth nothing. Well, sometime that happens.
However, in this case it appears to have been a carefully orchestrated scheme by big finance to effectively scam normal people out of their savings by means of ongoing positive news messages with the company appointed financiers actively short selling in the background and dilution of the company. The company directors have acted in their own interests and made what appear to be untruthful statements in order to support this process. This was further supported this morning when RNA messages dating back to July 23 were finally published.
Further information is in the attached links and a website is being prepared at the moment. A group of high Net Worth individuals have appointed a respected legal firm in London to try to prevent the fraud from being completed.

The FCA appears to be totally unsuitable for purpose, and given that it is funded by the very same institutions it is supposed to police it’s possibly no surprise.
The human cost of this is significant: Some examples are below but there are many others
88 year old widow, £62,000
44 year old disabled veteran, £43,000
72 year old SIPP holder, £54,000
26 year old, mortgage deposit, £22,500
81 year old, wife with cancer, £63,700
58 year old, pension wiped out, £102,300
53 year old, daughter’s wedding fund, £32,100
I appreciate you are busy but I thought that this is precisely the sort of injustice that our MP’s are elected to fight and you are probably one of the best fighters there is in the House.
I would be glad to try to answer any questions you may have, although I am not the most knowledgeable on the intricacies of the stock market. If you are interested in further information it may well be better for me to try to arrange a contact from one of the members of the action group.

"These directors are stuffed turkeys."
I'm not counting my chickens yet ;-) In fact I'm not even expecting to get anything back
While this is an extremely positive action this is going to take time. These guys didn't do this without having something about them and I've no doubt they'll come up with some very plausible stories/explanations, or at least try to. All we can do is hope that our new representation is every bit as good as he would appear to be and that something tangible is done to prevent this sort of scenario happening again. Any money back is a bonus.
"Best thing I did was get out. I brought some just now on free app only a few so I can post on here :)"
Weird. If the best thing you did was get out why on earth would you buy a few to be able to post on a forum that doesn't restrict you in the first place.
Alfresco,
That is a horrendous position to be in. I’m nothing like as bad as that but still bad enough. The disgusting thing is our investments were made on the back of official company releases. We had no reason to doubt, we trusted, we were let down and we were cheated. These thieves need to be taken to task and fortunately (?) it appears that others with deeper pockets were also taken in . Hopefully they can bring some sort of resolution to this.
I sincerely hope that things work out for you
"😱 lag you and your disciples are proper loop the loop, 29 recommendations for a clueless mad post, jeez you can’t make this 💩 up!"
Let it go. You're not the saviour etc etc etc.
Point is that most of us LTH are so far under water there's really no point in selling, the risk is now so low it's not even there. We've already endured the downside, there's actually more potential upside holding on to the shares we have
