Interest rates19 Sep 2024 06:31
The US cut interest rates by 0.5% yesterday, and stated they expect a number of further cuts this year.
That will pug pressure on the UK to reduce rates, but must admit I can't see the ultra cautious UK bankers worrying about growth like the US.
However, with Europe and the US cutting rates long term gilt rates are likely to fall again very soon. Our yield is heavily influenced by UK gilt rates, which strongly indicates to me that the share price is likely to rise towards 70p in the next week.
Just my opinion, but yields on all REITs are slowly falling in line with gilts, due to increasing share prices.
If you want income from UK REITs (like me), then it may be best to invest sooner rather than leave it!
Just my view of the trend. On a daily basis, who knows! I don't envy the day traders!
