If the bank is capitalised and hedged as it should be, even a run on the bank should mean that they can sell their assets in order to fund the run, and still have assets left over. The fact SVB didn't hedge against rising yields is no fault but their own. Yet the board will likely get away with it, with the taxpayer to pick up the pieces, or company's will go bust. Really sounds familiar to 2008, which is scary. Incoming interest rate cuts and bailouts using public debt. More inflation too, hurrah!

Lloyd's and Barclays have been approached to take over SVB UK according the sky news. RIP their share price if they do.

I'm not really looking forward to the pivot. Stocks tend to go lower after a pivot. They don't pivot out of the goodness of their heart, it's because they've broken something. I just couldn't be out of THG with results being split and golden share expiring. I'd rather ride through the bumps and get the eventual rally rather than miss the rally.

Hosai, are you forgetting about the largest shareholder, Moulding? He would retain his stake in THG in any leveraged buyout and it certainly wouldn't be in his best interest to leverage the company with debt.

The BOD duty is also to look after the interests of the company, not just the shareholders. Else, you would see companies being sold off constantly, since their sole purpose would be to create value for shareholders.

Does anyone know the dynamics of how the golden share affects bids for the company in the run up to the expiry of the golden share?

I'm thinking, say in June ish time, we may have many more buyout rumours as firms do their due diligence before the September expiry. Especially with results being split out for each division next month.

An indicator that I've been using recently, it's starting to preempt the move in the markets. GBP dropped off a cliff yesterday and was a sell signal. Starting to recover this morning whilst the markets dump. Hoping it indicates recovery over the next few days.
