Woody is a gonner....pressure on share price this morning as all his investments will be sold. Hopefully will be a good thing for provident longer term I think

LONDON, Oct 15 (Reuters) – Neil Woodford has been ousted as manager of his flagship LF Woodford Equity Income Fund, which will now be wound up to pay back investors trapped in the fund since June.

The fund's administrator, Link Fund Solutions (LFS), said on Tuesday that it had taken the decision to close the fund – which has been suspended – because Woodford's efforts to sell down his illiquid holdings and move into liquid stocks ahead of a planned December reopening of the fund had not gone to plan.

mosts imporant part of statement is cashflow remains unchanged so the dividend`s continue to flow.

Times headline in business section is Serco’s £4bn swoop on Babcock. Serco approached babcock about a merger twice.

hopefully this is finally some good news. Babcock is a sitting duck for takeover approaches!

I averaged down as think the selling is driven by Interserve and Carillion fears but is theoretically able to withstand the short term pressures....

However I have only 2% of my portfolio in them at this price. if they go bust I will take it on the chin and not lost my shirt if I`m wrong. don`t risk too much...

Once they drive woodford out of business and he closes his funds, we could see big recovery`s in the shares he has huge stakes in once the hedge funds have beaten him

need woody to sell some of his big position again to give this stock a boost!

yep he has to sell at terrible prices or you could say save what he can before it gets even worse...

Woody panic selling at the bottom is a buy signal usually

Woodford a forced seller it looks like, bring down his stake in card factory (given his problems mounting)

Hopefully that's a sign to buy..

Auson...Woodford has had to suspend trading in his main fund...so won`t be buying more
it might actually help if he`s dumping his Kier shares to be honest as he had too large of a holding and often when he sells we get a recovery!

yes, I topped up today. one of the most out of favour stocks you can find with a 6.5%+ yield now, with the hate for outsourcers, brexit fears and investors beating down value stocks, chasing growth shares.

this is a share i want to be in if the market suddenly turns on growth stocks and/or a slowdown in the global economy happens...

shorters will destroy this down to about 10p I`d guess

Everyone assumes a cut when the yield reaches 9/10% but don`t lose hope because I remember BP and Shell being in this position when oil crashed and they maintained their dividends(while everyone said they had to be cut) and the share prices recovered. hopefully Voda can manage something similar....

I assume it would be paid in June, when the final dividend used to be paid...hopefully announced in the results on 27th Feb

Provident continues to expect a resumption of dividend payments in forthcoming annual results, with a "nominal" payment forecast by analysts to be between 8p and 10p. A subsequent policy of 1.4x cover has meant prospective dividend yields of 5.7% and 7.4% for the following two financial years.

Before today there were hopes it could be as high as 25p but more likely to be 5-10p. Anything would help at the moment after this latest poor update with more bad news..
