Well grsshaw - you make several points.
1. Agreed - we buy a share based on the facts before us.
2. Past performance in no guide but a drop in the SP from 80p in 1997 to 1p now is I suggest a fundamental change.
3. Nevertheless, we should look forward. Good news? Lots of talk about good news - I'd be happier to hear of actual progress.
4. I too am a business owner, and indeed have been for the entirety of my (long!) career.
5. Positivity vs negativity is fundamental here, and the reason that I am not popular. The assumption I think is that as a shareholder I should be shouting how wonderful everything is from the rooftops (no matter what I think) in an attempt to talk up the SP. Naive at best, not to mention dishonest.
Despite this, I continue to hold having bought originally at about 11p and averaged down a couple of times. If the SP rises to 4p I'll get my stake back, but this has been a thoroughly disappointing investment.
Mercifully, this is just one of about 60 shares in my portfolio, and some are actually in profit.
Thank-you for your well-explained position.
