Pat and chatroom, i'm not going to pretend i know all the answers to the nhs problems whether it's down to bad management or lack of funding, i expect it's both, all i do know it's a total shambles and an embarrassment to our country when people are having heart attacks and other serious problems and can't get an ambulance because they are all stacked up outside the hospitals with patients in them, it seems like it's being accepted as the new normal

personally i would prefer to pay more taxes to get it sorted if that's whats needed, rather than seeing tax cut's for the rich

If the government has spare cash, I. Would prefer then to give it to the NHS that badly needs it instead of tax cuts that could push up inflation

Roofer, i think i did it for several months for a bit of fun with the encouragement from dan ,i think it was a time when the share price dropped to a pound and made it's way up to 1.40, then decided to stop it, as the saying goes, you can please some of the people some of the time, but not all the people all the time

so do what ever you feel is right for you

If you keep it to Friday evening and the weekends and leave mon to fri when the markets are open to the more serious traders, i don't see why it should be a problem for anyone, you can never please everyone

Roofer, hindsight would indeed have been a wonderful tool here

many of my other shares have gone down then come back up on several occasions, but anyone that's been invested here over the past six years or so, will tell you they have kept waiting very passionately for this to go back up

anyway as a very wise friend of mine on here keeps reminding me, it's no good looking back, you just need to ask yourself do you think it can increase from where we are right now, well i think and hope it can, by how much i have no idea

It's been a much better week on the stock market since the announcement of reduced inflation figures to be fair

Long live the dividend, that's always welcome of course, but more important is getting back our loss of capital

Lets hope this can finally start climbing towards a £1 again there always seems to be something to knock it back down

Jax05, this has been an awful share to be invested in, that's just got worse every year since 2018 and is selling off parts of the company in a desperate attempt to reduce debt

the saddest thing is some people seem to be in denial and will try and twist the figures to make it look better than what it is

but every year it continues to disappoint

This share never fails to dissapoint I'm affraid, just wondering how low it can go

Market-Dealer, this is my second largest holding next to Lloyds and one of the shares i am more confident about making a good recovery, lgen has been a good investment for me in the past and hopefully it will continue to be rewarding in the future, i do however have a couple of shares i wish i never invested in, and i expect i'm not alone

for that reason i wish i kept a larger percentage of my portfolio in lower risk funds, and just concentrated on a smaller number of the more reliable shares that you could top up at a discounted price

Zac, of course not losing money is a top priority, I have some shares i'm pretty confident that they will come back good and others i'm not so confident about, and i expect others here are in a similar situation

lgen/aviv/mng/dlg/vod/psn/lloyds i expect a lot of you are invested in at least some of these, so please feel free to comment, a lot are going exdiv next april so we should have a chat about it again to see what progress they have made compared to the funds

ZAC- if only we could have a peek into the future, my 8 funds granted they are not losing money but they are not making any gains either

the majority of my shares on the other hand are mostly all paying dividends into my account, but here's the big snag, most of my dividend paying shares are losing me more money on capital than they are paying out in dividends

as tichtich is saying it's only a paper loss mostly caused by all these wars/ inflation/interest rises etc.

So if for instance 2024 turns out to be a much better year/reduced inflation/interest rates and a bit of a bull run to return our losses on capital then there will be a lot of smiling faces here, sounds like a bit of a fairy tail right now i know

Obviously anyone who invests in the stock market is well aware that there is no guarantee that our capital will return back it's previous highs, we just hope it will be, so trying to get a balanced portfolio is probably the best thing we can do in difficult times especially at retiring age

Don't think there's any need for anyone to fudge the inflation figures, you only need to look at the way food and all our essential bills are going up for proof of that

looks like a tough few months ahead of us, it goes on and on, same story though with all of my shares and funds

out of interest does anyone have a portfolio that;s been growing lately, i know mine is shrinking

let's hope in 2024 we will see an end to these wars, and a long bull market, we can dream

Gwm121, unfortunately i do remember this being over £2 ouch, at the time just like many others i thought this was the industry of the future and would be a rewarding share to be invested in, well I was right about the first bit, but with expensive infrastructure and a very competitive market and possible bad management along the way unfortunately this has gone in the wrong direction for investors, I thought my last top up here of 86p was a bargain but even that is looking a bit deflated, unfortunately I’m caught in a trap with this one at the moment, let's hope the only way is up from here onwards

Hi Dan, i assumed you was talking about the sacking of Nick Reed, but it seems you was just talking in general, but i agree just sacking the CEO's is not the answer, however we are depending on the CEO and board of directors to make this company profitable and hopefully we will see an increase in the sp

can they do it? i really don't know, let's hope 2024 will be a more prosperous year for Vod and for everything else

Just seems like one disaster after another for this company, it is without a doubt the worst investment i ever made, i am a long term investor here and would be happy if i only got half of my money back from this share

It was in decline for several years before getting hit badly by the Pandemic then came inflation which had a bad effect on the insurance industry more so for saga as they had locked there insurance prices for 3 years

hopefully things will get better for Saga from here onwards and i might get some of my money back

providing it doesn't get hit with anymore tragedy's or goes bust

fingers crossed here that things can get better
