Morbox, sounds like a good plan to me, you will get rewarded for it eventually, but will have to be patient for some time i think, don't think this is a good time for jumping from one share to another, could end up from the frying pan and into the fire

Robina, that sums it up very well i think, the best way i see of getting through this winter is keep collecting dividends, and I can't think of a more reliable one than lgen for that purpose

Zac, thanks for that information, that's a few more for me to look into, I have mixed feelings about funds, i used to have 11 of them that were all in profit, then since the start of the inflation fears, i was watching that profit being taken away from them week by week, at least with dividend shares, nobody can take the dividends back off you, so i sold up some of my funds and purchased more dividend shares, but still holding on to my 5 most profitable funds, L&G International Index being one of them, also have one investment trust smt which had a very good year in 2020 due to there investments in amazon and tesla, but has been on the decline the last 6 months, getting a good diversification i think is the best thing you can do, but nothing is doing particularly well right now, so trying to invest my dividends wisely at the moment

Roofer, yea not great is it, The bad times that started off with the Pandemic just keep on giving or is that taking, will just have to try and make the best of a bad situation and somehow try and make some money out of it, they do say one mans loss is another mans gain, not sure who that other man is though ? hopefully there will be some sort of resolution with the war and the Bull market is not too far away

Hi soton, last week was pretty poor, so wishful thinking perhaps that we will have a better week
lloyds/lgen/aviva/dlg/mng are all paying out dividends with me next week, so will be holding them in account for a while, until i decide when and which of my current shares will get it, vod is also on that list depending on price

Not sure what all the moaning is about, with all the turmoil ahead of us this winter, you will be glad that you have invested in a strong company that pays a good dividend, the capital will come back later

Meshtrader, some people seem to be very passionate about this share, maybe because they have worked in the industry or just because they feel telecoms is the thing of the future
But if i can ask you a serious question, do you think this is a good share to invest in, taking into account the share price has not shown any growth over the last 5 years, not even inline with inflation, and the dividend is only really good if you can buy at the bottom price and not even very reliable
personally i just think it's ok as an addition to a portfolio if you can get in at a low price

Dan, i was planning to top up here if it should reach below 110, think this might be my best hope of getting into profit here, but nobody knows where the bottom will be, it's all a bit of a gamble, would always prefer to see a share rise if possible though

Hi Dan mate. I wish i could say something positive to cheer you up about the shares right now, but the best i can come up with is your not alone, my whole portfolio has taken a kick up the jacksie this week, I have four shares paying out dividends this month and it's staying in the account, i would be afraid to invest it anywhere for a while, and the real squeeze hasn't even started yet, a bit scary really, but let's just ignore all that, nice weather predicted for the bank holiday , have a great time

Hi Dan, I'm not sure i will ever be able to agree with fleccy on that one, but hey if it's working well for him that's all that matters, it depends on your time span and situation i suppose
for myself i would ideally like 7-8 percent dividends and an increase in capital inline with inflation, or at least see your capital returned at some time throughout the year, but as we all know they don't always work out the way you would like, then it's a case of trying to make the best of a bad situation as with Lloyds and vod for instance, but there comes a point when your patience run out, especially if dividends have been reduced or stopped, As Gary was saying it's probably not a good time for buying anything at the moment, but if your already invested, just sit tight and make use of the dividends
If this week is anything to go by, we will have to buckle up and weather the storm for a while, but it's only a paper loss, so don't worry and be happy as they say

Morbox, well the 220 was nice even if it was only for one day lol, don't think it's any reflection on dlg, it's just shares in general are getting knocked down with inflation fears/recession etc. but as i was saying if the dividends keep flowing it will be a great help in bad times, I will be pooling all my dividends together and saving them up for a while, maybe top up at a discount price at some time
