Congratulations Dan, not only for guessing the share price, but it's also the best week we've had on the stock market for a while, hopefully we will have some more good weeks to follow, what a strange world it's been the last few years, it's like we have gone back to the 1940s, anyway nothing we can do about that, hopefully better things before xmas

obviously, they need to increase premiums to compensate for inflation costs, just hope they don't lose too many customers in the process, as we need to see the share price increase, hopefully we will see an increase on approach to the next exdiv

nice to see the shares rising for a change and hopefully vod has left the 99p behind and looking forward to 110, personally i would welcome Mikey back, i found his comments quite humorous, as we all know any comments here will not make any difference to the share price, just got the feeling though that everyone's preparing for a tough winter, and we may have to wait a bit longer before we see any improvements, but who knows what will happen next

Hi mole, fair comment mate, whith so many shares trading at a discount now, it's a matter of where we think we can get the best return, but i think it will be better to top up on shares we already own, to try and make an improvement, snd hopefully see them back in profit

Hi Dan, hope you had a good holiday, nice to see you back to keep some order on this board, we all want to see the share price rising 140 plus that would be very nice, in which case cheapshares and meshtrader can say hey mole you got it wrong, but it's difficult to put up an argument when the share price is at 99p, all the talk about deals etc. all sound very nice but unless it's reflected in the share price, it means nothing right now
still positive about seeing this get back to 140, but when that will happen is anybody's guess, the stock market is very unsettled right now

Candidinvester, thank you for that information, i will look into that, I used to have 11 funds until about 9 months then started selling some off and just kept the 5 best performers, was kind of hard watching the money i built up on the funds draining away, so i used the proceeds from my funds to buy more dividend shares, hopefully better times ahead

Hi Gary, thanks for your feedback on that, swings and roundabouts i suppose a combination of both helps in difficult times, reminds me of an investment i made before i got into the stock market, where i invested a lump sum with hsbc bank a five-year period, five years later i had doubled my money, so impressed i put my original investment back in for another five years only this time round it didn't make a penny, timing makes a big difference, not been a great time for investors lately, but reinvesting dividends wisely and topping up when the prices are down, will hopefully bring some rewards later on

Hi Gary, all of my funds are still in profit and were doing really well until the start of the inflation problems, but they have since lost around 30-40% of the profit they built up, not very nice seeing the profit they made over previous year being taken away month by month, one good thing about dividend shares is even though the share prices drop in bad times nobody can take those dividend payments back off you, hopefully tide will turn at some time and things will improve
just curious, do you have any funds that are doing well right now or are they just holding steady and not making any progress like mine right now?

Hi Jim, I haven't missed your point at all and i totally agree with you lol, that's why i have been topping up, just saying it may be a good alternative for someone concerned about the current risks and who may be needing to take out their money sometime soon, for instance my dlg shares are currently in a 25% loss due to inflation costs and i won't even talk about my long-suffering Lloyds shares, even my treasured lgen shares are slightly in loss at the moment, for me i will just be holding on to everything and hoping eventually we will get rewarded for the wait, and hope I'm not too old to enjoy it :-)

Hi jim800, it is very safe indeed 4.5% and your capital is guaranteed, I was talking about if someone was going to need that money in the next year or two and wanted peace of mind, spikeyj said he was concerned about the share price falling over a cliff due to putins war and the possibility of nukes being set off in the black sea, in which case you could easily see your capital depreciate by a lot more than 5.5 % as you put it
personally, i am thinking longer term, and will be holding and topping up as i mentioned, hope i have made that a bit more clear
Looking forward to my 8% dividend yield here, but hopefully we will also get a nice rise in the sp as well above inflation
but nothing is guaranteed with all that's going on

Hi Spikeyj, I understand your concerns, I think most people would agree the World is in a right old mess at the moment and has been a bad time for equity investors, but some will say that now is a very good time to invest in Uk shares as they may be close to reaching their bottom price, but a good crystal ball will be needed for that, however if you think you will be needing that money in the next few years and you are concerned about loss of capital in these turbulent times, with saving accounts now paying around 4.5% with no loss of capital guaranteed, think that alternative will be looking very attractive for many in the short term, for myself i will be adding to my dividend shares at these discount prices when funds allow and just collecting the dividends while waiting for the share prices to recover, more fool me perhaps

Spikeyj, what a strange comment, no point in worrying about something we can't do anything about, and if that did happen Aviva share price would be the least of our concerns, but we sure are overdue for something good to happen now after the last few years of turmoil we have had, and think Aviva has a lot more to give
