RT003, we all want you to be right about that, as Gary pointed out though there are many hurdles to cross at the moment, but hopefully most of the bad things pointed out have already been priced in to the already very low share price
most of the articles I've have been reading lately are saying a bull market is on the way some time in 2023 let's hope it comes true well needed after the last few troubled years
I had a crystal ball for xmas but still reading through the instructions at the moment, will give you all an update when i have mastered it lol

I guess we could be of a similar age those years of high interest rates i remember well, really good times for everyone with savings but not good for anyone paying a mortgage, but we adapted to it and your right in saying things will keep changing over the years
But what a very unpredictable world we are living in right now, leaving the EU the Pandemic and the very dangerous war caused by Putin's invasion of the Ukraine, , I am sorry sir but if you don't think these are unprecedented times right now then I am very confused ?
But let's be more positive and hope 2023 will turn out to be a much better year all round, many of the articles i have been reading are predicting a bull market some time in 2023 so now could turn out to be a good time for investments with a lot of shares currently trading at a discount prices
So i will just wish you all a happy and prosperous new year, oh and hopefully the dividends will keep coming until we are waiting for an increase in the share price ;-)

dalesflyer, just had a look at some of the shares you've been showing an interest in itv, poly metal and saga, wow not very good success stories over the past few years and neither has vod been, but does seem to be a very low price at the moment ? everything's a bit of a gamble right now, but good luck whatever you choose

Gary, i would be quite happy for them to cut the dividend to pay down debt, providing of course that the share price benefits from it
will be an interesting new year for vod and the stock market in general, we all wait in anticipation for something good to happen

my biggest fear here is what will happen to the share price if the dividend is reduced or cut

we all know inflation has had a bad effect on the share price and they need to increase their premiums to cover the extra costs, let's hope they can do so without losing too much business in the process, hoping there is some improvement in the next results

Trotsky, I'm not saying your right or wrong on that one, there are of course plenty that will argue that vod has reached its bottom and now has more growth potential, it's all up in the air at the moment with very little clarity until a new CEO is appointed, as for dividends not sure any are safe right now we are living in very unprecedented times, if only we could have a little peek into the future it would make these decisions a lot easier, let's just hope 2023 turns out to be a more prosperous year for all our shares

Guttersnipe, i would suggest you just open a savings account, all shares are a risk, but they can also bring rewards, you have to think how much you can afford to lose rather than how much you can invest, the choice is yours

That is the big question now, most share prices are down but so far all my shares are still paying full dividends, a great help in a recession while waiting for the share prices to recover, but of course all of that could change next year especially if they can't get inflation under control

86.5 for me please roofer, and i will have a drink to a good 2023, end of Putin's war. reduce inflation, stock market rally, and hopefully see vod climbing those ladders again, must think positive, but most of all good health

jedclampit, it definitely helps if you get a bit of luck on your side, one of the first shares i invested in was Lloyds, i was showing a nice profit there several years back, then they got hit badly with the ppi claims, as the claims were just coming to an end Lloyds announced they were going to pay quarterly dividends and things were starting to look good for Lloyds, then came the pandemic that pushed them right down again then came putins war then inflation, now not even high interest rates can get them moving due to the recession, you definitely need some good luck sometimes

Dan, it's good that you can be honest about it, we all know vod/bt and lloyds have been poor performers over the last 6 years, and sometimes it's not so much the shares that you have invested in, it's just bad timing and also bad luck, shares drop and rise, only sometimes they drop and drop you think ok give a bit more time and they will come back up, but they continue to drop and before you know it your caught in a no win situation, you either sell at a loss or try and make it look better by adding more and waiting for something good to happen to turn it around
now let's hope this new CEO or ever they might be can make the right decisions and build investors confidence in this share
I'm sure most people who invest in the stock market have been in this situation at some time, if they are honest

you could also compare with the historic charts, and just make a few adjustments for the unprecedented events, such as pandemic/putins war/inflation/interest rate rises, oh and change of CEO simple really lol

I was thinking with vod dividend currently yielding over 9% and the possibility of the share price being over a £1 next year it could be a good investment, on the other hand it could be a big mistake, if you could work out the share price for next march and this Saturdays lottery numbers i would be very grateful lol

velo, just curious why would you enter the daily high and low onto a spreadsheet everyday
