MtB Yes I do understand that for people to buy shares someone has to sell them. In this particular case there had hardly been any activity for several days and at the time of my post, late morning, 300k shares had been bought, there was significantly more blue on the list than red. It struck me as being a significant change and I posted it so that others could have a look and make there own observations. As SS has done. R
MtB Thanks I didn't know that. I thought that they printed off a few more on the old Epson or had a cardboard box full of them under the desk.
About 300,000 shares bought today and very few sold.
Might be worth clicking on "AVN Share Trades" above and having a look.
See "Subject".
Blowntobits, your perception of the glass is not just half-full it's positively overflowing. However, if you look at the share price an "about to dry up" might be more appropriate. Whether this is good or bad will no doubt be indicated by any movement in the share price.
He had to resign from HSBC recently due to having too many directorships. This may be another part of that process.
Whats..... Thanks for the link. From that it would seem they both cover the same area. Google them you say..... never thought of that! I get the "impression" regarding the launch dates for H4 from three links posted here last Friday all confirming 18th Oct. 2017. I get the "impression" regarding H3 from a magazine article I posted a link to several weeks ago which said that there were problems with H3 and the launch date had been put back to mid 2018. Don't mention it. Glad to be of help!
From what people are posting it would seem that Hylas 4 is going up later this year and (all being well) Hylas 3 in early / mid next year. Can anyone explain the difference in the two. And yes, it's 1 ;-)
Learn to spell and use the correct punctuation. I may not be perfect but I do make an effort. With regard to the share price, my average buy price is 64p and it will be a bloody long time before it gets to that again, so I'm here for the long haul. PS Try to be nice to one another :-)
"How much is a fully functioning satellite with a 15 year lifespan worth ???" Does it have aircon and xenon headlamps?
Tracker, don't know if you'd agree but I once read that you only make a loss when you sell :-)
I don't see much happening until next year and the launch, assuming there are no more delays. and that assumes AVN have enough in the bank to keep going until then. So two assumptions!! There are other concerns but I don't want to talk my own investment down, that would be completely silly.
That seems a lot to me, is there anything significant in that, what could it mean? If anything!
Dear Jip Are you having a larf? There is absolutely no chance of that here. The best chance you have is that GCC will be here tomorrow saying that it must be good news 'cos he hasn't seen any bad news. I would bet it's bad news, because it came after the close of business. You should know either way by about 8:20 tomorrow morning, but which time, either way it will be to late. Best wishes Another Idiot. x
Matt, logically you are correct but from my experience of both attending and chairing AGM's most shareholders are too scared to put their head above the parapet with anything contentious for fear of negative repercussions. As far as voting with my feet is concerned, being 86% down walking away would only hurt me. PS My original post was not to criticize DW's salary, although he could buy a few shares with some of it, it was to show the paltriness of the contract in terms of the spend.
...if you divide the E8.3M by 16 partners and 2.5 years it covers about 20% of Mr Williams salary. :-)
It's as flat as a pancake. Maybe Mr Market hasn't got to the office yet ;-)
This is good news, in that it raises the profile of AVN which might in turn lead to more business. But........... Will this help the current situation? As is often the case with these RNS's it isn't clear how this will financially affect the company. It appears to me to be an 8.3M Euro contract award for a project (SaT5G?) in which AVN will be one of 16 partners. So what is their bung in all this? They will be project managers, so will they just be billing man hours? One good aspect is that the project definition appears to be couched in academic terms and the UoS are involved so it's likely to overrun. They wouldn't award this to AVN if they thought they were likely to go pop. Let's just hope the contract allows for "extras" if it does overrun. Just my opinion and I don't know much about it.
To be fair this is not AVN's fault, at least it's not directly attributable to them. However it does point out some of the banana skins of this high tech business and how you need funding to cover such things. I wonder if they have insurance for this. This news also points out that Germany and Canada have satellite industries. I wonder why the British satellite industry isn't involved.................... perhaps it was sold to to the Germans and Canadians........... or even worse perhaps there were some joint ventures. :-(
