Profit from Kape’s chart break-out

Aim-traded shares in Kape Technologies (KAPE:208.5p), a provider of cyber security software, have smashed through my 200p target price after doubling in value since I last suggested buying, at 100p, two months ago (‘Three buying opportunities’, 18 March 2020). I first recommended buying, at 47.9p, in my 2017 Bargain Shares portfolio, so long-term holders have more than quadrupled their money. The re-rating is fully justified as this morning's trading update highlights."

The upside here remains very high imho.

Finncap value the core business at 25p per share, i.e £38m. Given that the Food Intolerance division is so profitable - £2.76m PBT to 31/3/19, £2.39m PBT the previous year and £1.68m PBT in H1'20 alone.

Then let's assume that ODX sell a further 500,000 CD4 tests, which is quite likely as they've done more than this already. That would add another 10p to ODX's value per Finncap, taking their valuation to 35p per share.

So the current m/cap is only including around £22m of value for any upside on COVID-19 - let alone for sales/commercialisation of the Allergy test panels, further sales of CD4 and growth for Food Intolerance in China and elsewhere globally.

The buying price has moved up nicely and at 14.9981p per the most recent trade is now essentially at the full offer price.

Hopefully a further indication that there isn't much stock around.

Arden have this morning increased their target price to 260p (from 208p), and say Buy :o))

CAPD has asset backing against its £79m m/cap at 60p of:

- $4.4m net cash
- $12.5m of investments, split roughly evenly between publicly quoted and private companies
- $52.9m of property, plant and equipment, mostly drilling rigs

CAPD provide services almost wholly to gold producers, with very little exposure to more cyclical gold exploration. It's been unaffected by COVID-19, with all of its gold producing clients operating normally.

The gold price is as I write at multi-year highs at around $1,740 and is forecast by most to stay at high levels for some time to come.

Since 31st December 2019, CAPD's investment in Predictive Discovery on the ASX has rocketed. CAPD invested $350,000 at 0.009 AUD. They own 90m shares in total, or 14.69% of PDI. At the current 0.074 AUD quote this is now worth $6.7m AUD, or around £3.6m.

Good news - Berenberg have today initiated coverage of CAPD with a Buy and a 77p price target:

I suspect this is as usual an initial shot, and that after the H1 trading update in mid-July or the H1 results this price target may be increased further.

An encouraging move today, with MWE acquiring the rest of the water division JV in China.

Not material in itself - but presumably there must be encouraging signs of more contract wins etc to come for MWE to make this move:

The clues are there if people choose to see them, in the rate of new sign-ups, the delivery of synergies, the confidence in meeting expectations only four months into the year, the "uplift in the growth of new users" at PIA, the new privacy products....

No-one could expect more at this stage from an AGM statement.

Continuing to inch back upwards. No reason imo why CAPD shouldn't go to new highs of 75p+ soon assuming the gold price stays at these high levels, or even anywhere above $1,500.

Very positive interview with the CEO - essentially the small parts of the business which weren't fully operational will be back in "weeks". Interesting to see that RNWH were involved in setting up the 5G network at the new Nightingale hospital in London:

"Numis upgrades ‘impressive’ Renew

Numis has upgraded engineering services company Renew (RNWH) which has proved defensive during the Covid-19 crisis and is at the forefront of an expected pick-up in infrastructure spending.

Analyst Howard Seymour upgraded his recommendation from ‘add’ to ‘buy’ with a target price of 590p on the shares, which surged 11.5% to 466p yesterday.

‘It is very impressive that over the lockdown crisis to date, some 80% of Renew’s works have continued and only 13% of staff furloughed,’ he said.

Seymour said it was just as impressive that he was reinstating estimates so early. ‘Our assumption of c.15% disruptive impact on earnings in our view is prudent, but it is likely to be a major operational outperformer versus peers,’ he said.

The IC says Buy today:

Another key paragraph from the IC article:

"its focus on essential infrastructure maintenance activities means 80 per cent of its work has continued. Rail, highways, water and telecommunications have all been designated as ‘critical’ sectors. That is good news considering more than 90 per cent of sales and adjusted operating profit are derived from engineering services."

New highs today after an 8p rise. Tthe AGM statement on Thursday looks like it will be great following the very positive recent COVID-19 update and the Chairman's share buying.

Notable that:
- 5G demand has been accelerated 2-3 years by the pandemic
- Mottech water/irrigation demad has recovered quickly
- distribution is doing "very well", and the fruits of numerous design wins 2-3 years ago are now coming in
- MWE are looking for more acquisitions, preferably immediately earnings-enhancing

Looking interesting online, with only a maximum 50k shares available to buy. Which helps explain the small tick up after just a £3.5k buy.

Numis upgrade to Buy (from Add) with a 590p target.

Shore Capital reiterate their Buy and 570p target.

Peel Hunt also reiterate their Buy and 575p target.

The H1 results look good to me - and most importantly, the outlook is rosy, with 80% of activities having continued as normal and the remaining 20% now coming back on stream.

20.1p EPS in H1 to 31/3 is up a very creditable (given the lockdown) 5% from last year, net debt is down - despite the Carnell acquisition - and Engineering order books are up a whopping 11% following "record trading" in the half year.

Prospects in Rail, Infrastructure, Nuclear, Environmental all look terrific given the huge budgets and spending increases allocated to them over the coming long-term spending programmes.

The Chairman's outlook commentary says it all:

" Our strong trading performance and cash generation in the first half of the year, is reflective of the reliable long-term nature of the UK infrastructure markets in which we operate, a strategy reinforced in the Government's latest Budget when they committed to investing GBP640bn in infrastructure over the next 5 years."

Good news all round - loan funding received in the USA, plus this comment from the CEO

2019's results will hopefully be out any day now.

Given that per the 26th March update, the division with 90% of Group revenues had had almost no impact from COVID-19, one would hope that (quite apart from the 2019 results, which we know will be good), the outlook for this year will show only a small effect at most.

In which case the current share price would look ridiculously cheap.

Anyway, shouldn't be long now:
