I know most people think I'm mad to place so much importance, but when you look at what has happened to FX since the budget / American cousins woke up...

Has anyone ever tried to work out what the impact is on EUA if Sterling loses a cent against the dollar? On spec, I would have thought:
> for UK holders of GBP, but who care about USD, it makes any UK shares appear more appealing than before
> EUA's value is linked to USD, so there's a direct boost
> for those in the US, holding USD, a good time to convert to GBP and buy UK stocks
> everyone everywhere needs to hedge their currency against lithium battery supply chains... and then I get lost

I reckon I oversimplify things, but when Amsterdam did more trading than London, whilst we were struggling to export anything to Europe or the rest of the world, and had temporarily lost our tourists, foreign students and fish... I figured there wasn't much point in keeping my Sterling under the matress. I've wanted a crock of palladium for a long while. It's amazing how much the GBP:USD rate moves due to duelling vaccine news, and I see FX as having a massive impact on EUA. Surely our teetering currency makes the treasure trove glister more greatly...

I'm afraid I've only been aboard a couple of weeks, trying to learn the ropes and keep an eye on the mainsail, but can anyone explain who is selling so many shares sub 30p?? I mean - now?? Why would one...?

Incidentally - the Halifax phoneline keeps saying "thank you for holding..." which I wish I could say to everyone selling off cheaply right now!!

Has anyone on Halifax received their IPO shares yet? It's the first time I've bought at IPO, and the first time using my non ISA share account. The phone queue is >40 mins so I thought I'd see who's also still looking for the dinghy...

you can't go from IPO to ISA, it's not a Primary Bid thing exclusively

I was on hold for nearly an hour. They're a lovely team, but have not been quick here. They are verifying what they've had from Primary Bid (which is >500 customers, which they saw as a lot of work...) which then needs to be sent back to Primary Bid for confirmation, then they can start slowly dolling out... I asked that they "pass on some feedback for next time"
