They're market makers, have a read up on what they do but the clue is in the name. Every stock on LSE has market makers even the most liquid ones like Barclays and Rolls Royce.

Imagine there was absolutely no interest in Solgold whatsoever (and that isn't hard to do), then nobody would be able to buy or sell any stock. Having these MMs who are obligated to both bid and offer and a minimum size ensures there is a market in play.

It does trade, every time you see an OB it's one of those market makers/intermediaries. If it were a liquid stock you'd see them at the touch point turning shares over for profit.

Any bid/ask with a four letter code next to it is a market maker and they nearly always sit at the NMS which for Solgold is 150,000 shares. They are obliged to do this (in order to make a market) but they are not obliged to do this at the best bid and ask.

You can identify the market maker by their code (eg SCAP = Shore capital, WINS=Winterflood Securities, PEEL = Peel Hunt and so on)

They are a lot of time and a lot of money away from extracting anything! You don't just tip up with a shovel and get cracking, there are formal studies to complete, more infill drilling, licences/permits to be achieved etc.

They're not blocking anything, they HAVE to bid 150k or more and they HAVE to ask 150k or more. The fact that they're far away from the touch is testament to the fact that there is no liquidity/market here.
