Could it be the same people running the incineration site will buy and run these? After all, waste to energy is their business and they might also be aware that incinerators produce carbon!!!

Presumably PHE feel 40t is the optimal size, but I imagine the feedstock tests will evidence that or otherwise.

Could be a 10t unit dedicated to old tyres is commercially viable and provides a profit.

Also some potential customers (such as councils) won't need it to be commercially profitable, as they'll be more focused on reducing waste than profitability.

We're still unclear what the next stage is, should testing go to plan. If it's straight to a commercial 40T unit, then partnering with someone like this could be key.
