Hi Scooby – I know what you’re saying about the smaller garages, but I don’t think the economics will work out for that to happen.

Most smaller garages aren’t bothering with electric chargers, even given the number there are on the road. How many hydrogen cars would need to be sold to make it worth a small garage installing a large (probably underground for safety reasons) hydrogen tank, pumping system and then removing an existing and in demand combined petrol/diesel pump with a hydrogen one?

I think most small to medium garages will simply not bother to sell Hydrogen.

PHE won’t be involved in the distribution of Hydrogen; it will be for the facility owner to sell on. I can’t see each site in a small to medium town targeting business to sell Hydrogen to and then having to set up a delivery network to fulfil this.

Supplying hydrogen to local business is probably not viable for the facility owners, especially if it’s only a small part of their business; unless PHE confirm otherwise.

I can see a positive future for PHE recycling plastic and recovering what it can from by-products at wholesale, assuming everything goes to plan

OR Ammonia which will be cracked on the customers site, for example at the petrol station forecourt / factories etc - as it's easier to transport and requires 1/8 of the storage space as the same amount of H2.

Divvyup - Agree with that. I also think PHE should have already provided more detailed information on the hydrogen off take process and potential product.

My personal opinion is it might not be great news, which is why they have clearly stated they will be focusing their sales and marketing strategy on the recycling side / syngas side.

It's not in the bin, just not a main focus ATM. Obviously there's no telling some people, even though both the CEO and Chairman have stated this in the AGM report.

What is the relevance to this board Castle, except to point out that major organisations will be producing cheap, green and clean hydrogen, reducing the need for hydrogen from a PHE facility.

Tm58 - it’s not a green fuel, like electric from a wind turbine etc, so no, it won’t be classed as green fuel. It’s just a byproduct that can be salvaged from the recycling process.
