Since M was only appointed interim ceo-and you have to do something-and stated he would be a candidate in competing for the job, it looks to be just an excuse. Quite a bit of mudslinging about Strukov, as you might expect. I hope it is not true and also hope the 9,000 workers will be treated decently and their concerns allayed.

I tried to look back to see the istory of the bonds partially because I noticed the recent verbiage gives support to RB view about the sp affecting the conversion cost. Could be unintentional and I do stick by my view of the bookkeeping entries re convertibles but only fair to check. anyhow not a pleasant exercise , hard to find pearls among all the depressing spiel.l i did note they bought bonds in 2013 34 % below the bond face value-clearly a good deal so nearer the crisis the bonds would be worth far less than that. couldnt see what really happened afterwards and constant references to certain bondholders-not good . I am sure the shareholders were shafted by Hambro but nothing to be done at this late stage.
m ,Sorry , but Iit is still a mystery to me what exactly happened re the old bonds becoming the new bonds.
many conversions and all i think including the 2 big ones taking place after 30 june. should have been accounted for but I think some on here have contacted the PR so maybe they can ask for confirmation of how the auditors treated the conversions- as I believe or not . Worth a try ?

My view is -there are no options and it matters not to the company or us what the sp is on conversion.
I dont have the figures and too lazy or busy to look but I have the idea that something like 2 thirds of the conbonds have been converted so yes something like your 57. Might look bad but I have been trying to say it isnt- just unfortunate timing effect AND in the remaining 4 years there will be neither actual interest nor notional equity "interest " so those results will be good good good ? and gold sp finally making a good move today

Put simply the conversion crystallised / brought forward say 107 m which would have been spread over the remaining 4 or 5 years. so the loss of 20 was it? would have been a profit of est. 87 million
If the 6 months result had shown that, how much do you think the POG share price would be now ?

i sure wasted my time making it crystal clear. the nonsense spouting about nothing has just accelerated and I knew I should have kept out of it.

unavoidably such has arisen and will soon on a life of it`s own. some even think it is a cash item even tho the report clearly says otherwise .It is purely accounting entries to reflect the fact that a lower rate of interest is being paid due to the bonds having an equity incentive.I dont know when they were issued but there will have been debits before these conversions. Now there have been significant conversions the position has been tidied up somewhat and interest charged to p&l must be less in future in addition to the fact that interest on the bonds is no longer payable on converted bonds . So it is not all black.
Near impossible to make the calculations since
none told me the interest rate on the conv bonds
even if they had , god knows what the theoretical rate of interest would have been if the bonds were just bonds.

the company DOES NOT have to buy shares at current value to give to the convertors
I am 99.9% sure the debit WILL NOT increase if the sp goes up further

I support you against those who say it makes no sense but I dont agree the company will buy shares on the open market. DAMN I did, a bit. the most important thing is to largely ignore it and enjoy the results before it. I do think POG is undervalued as your quik calc suggests . I thin k you should give POLY something for economies of scale and the appearance at least of more dynamism. AS RB said it is something which HAS to be recognised BUT as they said it is a non cash item
as they say you can fiddle the profit any way you like so for honesty look at the cash.
These are interim accounts and I suspect the year end will show it better but anyway it is obviously an exceptional item , once extraordinary so definitely not recurring -ok 1 more year- so imo any prospective investor should ignore it.
I feel grateful to Strukov; he at least recognised crookery and was strong enough to take it on.It is obvious the office blockers were trying to hide something big and something easy to spot. some questioned where the cash went . I think we will find out and hopefully recover something. I was trying to think back to the rights issue , which was by no means a gimmee . I think I had a feeling that they wanted to discourage us from doing it so I concluded there must be value there. The bondholders got a far better deal than one would have expected , any take over offers were never given the least thought or passed on. I regret I did not pay attention when the conv bond thing happened -my main interest in gold shares always came from a feeling gold sp would climb possibly a lot- but I suspect more chicanery from them - what a bonanza that turned out to be and for what risk. Normally conv are issued to get a low rate of interest . What do these pay ? not very low I expect.

a real shame the accounting adjustment re the conversion is so large and takes the shine off the results. I really hope when the real nature of this item sinks in or made clearer that the sp will recover. One hopes we can get rid of all bonds soon and since the P`s are gone, not go down that road again. The russian banks are good old fashioned banks who lend for industry , unlike ours who exist to lend for house buying and other asset buying in our great rentier economy.
no longer much need to debate old versus new anymore. It seems obvious now that Pavel M was no hero nor his buddy mr peter arbuthnot bondholder. Seems strange what seems a simple operation in one area requires so many subsidiaries and the company relies on them handing over money they control. would be interesting to know what arrangements the dying Pavel locked in. People use to accuse them of nepotism re IRC but we had no idea of the extent of this disease. Hope they can sort them out quick; never heard in the UK of employees preventing their bosses from entering the company`s offices.
