European shares rebound before bell

Stocks on major European markets gained before the bell on Friday after a lower close yesterday after Eurozone government bond yields hit historic lows. European Central Bank's Governing Council member Olli Rehn stated that a stimulus package which will be announced at the bank's next policy meeting in September.

Trade uncertainty continued to loom. China yesterday accused the United States of violating the agreement made at the G20 summit with the newly announced tariffs. President Donald Trump confirmed that the next round of talks in September is "still on," however, there is no specific date set. Meanwhile, the People’s Bank of China set the midpoint reference for the yuan at 7.0312 per dollar.

The DAX rose 0.64%, while the FTSE 100 increased 0.59 in premarket trade at 7:32 am CET. The CAC 40 added 0.53% concurrently.

The euro was flat against the dollar at 7:33 am CET, going for $1.11008. The pound climbed 0.11% against the greenback at the same time, buying $1.20986.

European markets mixed as recession fears wane

Stocks in Europe traded mixed in the premarket on Thursday after a day of sharp losses ignited by data showing a GDP contraction in Germany and a growth slowdown in the Eurozone, as well as downbeat industrial production data from both the euro area and China. In the United States, the main yield curve inverted for the first time in 12 years as the 30-year yield fell to its all-time low, further exacerbating worries over a possible approaching recession and sending stocks into a selloff.

Retail sales data for the United Kingdom is expected after the trading starts.

The DAX was up by 0.14% at 7:25 am CET. Meanwhile, the FTSE 100 traded 0.49% lower in the premarket.

The euro gained 0.09% against the dollar at 7:26 am CET, buying $1.11484. The pound slid 0.06% on the greenback, going for $1.20524.

Europe higher premarket after China tariffs delay

European stock market indexes were in the green in premarket trade on Wednesday, picking up on sentiment from the previous close, after the United States decided to delay China tariffs until December 15 and to suspend the tariffs altogether on some electronic products. Before markets open in Europe, investors will be awaiting German gross domestic product (GDP) data.

The DAX was 0.32% higher at 6:54 am CET while the FTSE 100 gained 0.37% at the same time. The CAC 40 was 0.26% in the green at 7:04 am CET.

The euro was flat against the dollar, increasing by 0.01% to 1.11720 at 7 am CET. The pound was 0.03% in the red compared to the greenback at 7:01 am CET, changing hands for 1.20557.

Brent soars nearly 5% on US-China trade optimism

Oil futures extended gains on Tuesday, jumping over 4% as trade tensions eased after the United States decided to delay imposing tariffs on imports of certain Chinese products until mid-December.

The US Trade Representative's office said that products including cell phones, laptops and video game consoles will be temporarily exempt from the additional 10% duty which will come into effect from September. US President Donald Trump claimed he decided in favor of such a move in order to avoid the potential impact of tariffs on American customers during the Christmas shopping season.

Brent for October delivery surged 4.80% to sell for $61.42 per barrel at 12:45 pm ET and West Texas Intermediate (WTI) for settlements in September jumped 4.30% to go for $57.30 at the same time, reaching its highest level since the beginning of August.

Oil jumps 3% as US delays some China tariffs

Crude futures surged 3% on Tuesday, with Brent climbing over $60 per barrel for the first time in a week as trade war fears eased after the United States announced it will delay imposing tariffs on select Chinese tech products. Furthermore, Chinese media reported that the country's Vice Premier Liu He spoke with USTR Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and that more talks between Washington and Beijing are expected soon.

International benchmark Brent for settlements in October rallied 3.48% to sell for $60.46 per barrel at 10:21 am ET and West Texas Intermediate (WTI) jumped 2.75% to go for $56.48 per barrel at 10:22 am ET.

Precious metals jump as Hong Kong risk rises
Gold peaked once more on Tuesday at the strongest level in six years and four months and silver surged with investors rushing to preserve value. Markets were rattled by the ongoing trade war between the United States and China and the impact on the economy. In Hong Kong, the dispute about the now failed extradition agreement with the government in Beijing grew into everyday clashes with the police over general matters.

China is hinting at intervening with troops amassed near the autonomous territory, which could worsen further the relations with the US and other Western powers. At the same time, stocks are taking a beating worldwide on an economic slowdown and central banks are racing to provide stimulus and currencies are suffering. Of note, Argentina's markets and currency crashed yesterday after President Mauricio Macri lost a primary election with a wide margin.

Gold advanced 0.56% at 7:53 am CET to $1,520.13 per ounce. It is nearing a record high in euros. Silver soared 1.67% to $17.35 after touching $17.38 for the first time since February 1 of last year. Platinum gained 0.53% to $862.43 and palladium rose 0.62% to $1,440.06 for one troy ounce.

European shares mixed premarket ahead of inflation data
Shares in Europe traded with mostly with modest gains on Tuesday before the bell as investors awaited inflation data for Germany as well as economic sentiment data from ZEW coming later in the day. Meanwhile, tensions in regards to the trade war between the United States and China continue. Yesterday, Moody's said that the duties Washington is set to implement from September will have an overall negative trade impact and harm growth in both economies. On Wall Street, the uncertainty was boosted by tensions over protests in Hong Kong, where China sees influence from the US.

The DAX added only 0.06% at 7:38 am CET as the FTSE 100 increased 0.16% in premarket trading. The CAC 40 slid 0.06% at 7:42 am CET.

The euro lost 0.20% on the dollar at 7:40 am CET, selling for $1.11915. Meanwhile, the pound was 0.07% lower against the greenback, going for $1.20668.

Usually if a stock jumps around 20% on positive news I’d be minded to sell because a retrace is nearly guaranteed, but given the pps collapse over this last month for no companies reason plus the near surety of further upgrades, I think the best plan is to just hold. Fair enough this mat we’ll go south tomorrow but I think because today’s gain is only reclaimed ground the safest action is do nothing, I’m certainly not going to try to trade out and in.

European shares rally in premarket

Investors took the cue on Monday from the repositioning in Asian markets and sent stock indexes in Europe higher, deciding equities have been oversold in the past month. Gold and silver, the most conventional safe havens, were in the red, also indicating a degree of risk appetite. China set the yuan's midpoint rate, lately one of the most widely watched catalysts amid the trade war with the United States, at 7.0211 per dollar. The level was weaker than Friday's 7.0136 but still a tad stronger than market consensus.

The euro moved just 0.07% up at 8:16 am CET, buying $1.12074, and 0.12% lower to £0.93032. The pound grew 0.18% to $1.20467. Gold slipped 0.14% to $1.495.45 per ounce while silver weakened 0.57% to $16.87 for one troy ounce.

The FTSE 100 advanced 0.41% in London. The German DAX index was 0.61% in the green and the CAC 40 rose 0.62%. The Euro Stoxx 50 rallied 0.52%.

European stocks trade lower premarket

European stocks declined in premarket trading on Friday after posting strong gains during the previous session.

Market watchers continued to focus on trade tensions between the United States and China, Brexit developments, as well as the political crisis in Italy after the country's Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini called for a snap election. On the data front, Germany reported its trade surplus in June decreased to €18.1 billion, while the United Kingdom's statistical office is set to release trade balance, GDP and industrial production figures later in the day.

The FTSE 100 lost 0.38% premarket at 8:07 am CET, the DAX fell 0.51%, the CAC 40 slid 0.71% and Italy's FTSE MIB dropped 0.97% at the same time. The euro added 0.12% against the dollar to sell for 1.11935 at 8:09 am CET.

I mistakenly bought Tullow and then started watching the trend.
I should have known better but we are where we are... as they say, life’s about learning.
After I bought then I started watching the trend. The first thing I noticed was that all the oil companies were trending downward irrespective of what the price of crude was doing.
There is an agenda somewhere, I just ploughed into the middle of it.
I was in the company of a ships captain this morning and he was able to show me the traffic in the water between the English and French coast.. live, on his phone. Then he showed me the traffic between Northern Ireland and England, it was a lot less and was also live.
Strait of Hormuz came to mind but when I asked him about it he said in language I can’t use here, he wasn’t interested in that bull.
But my interest in the Strait of Hormuz is that the world and their mother knows if a ship is or isn’t in Iranian waters. Conclusion: it’s political.
Why were all the oil companies shares going down while the price of crude and WTI was at worst stagnant. I have to feel that the powers that be know the score.
What they know is of no consequence to me provided I get wise to what’s going on and then get into the cycle... make it pay me.
I can’t type anymore, you think it out.

If Tullow report a dry well, plugged and abandoned, I believe the pps won’t collapse because of what ever is driving the sector has already brought the share price to nearly the bottom of the range... having said that if they report a successful well with great results the share price has plenty of room to rise without making too many millionaires along the way.

With Trump, China, U.K. Strait of Hormuz etc I can’t believe the pps won’t go lower, but with the end of “the first half of August” drawing near staying out hoping for a cheaper entry point is being a little greedy, that’s if the drill report comes in positive.

As far as the report announcement is concerned, I believe the market is (99.999%) ignorant as to whether the drill was successful or not.

European equities rise premarket as trade tensions ease

European equities rose in premarket trade on Thursday after the world's financial markets stabilized amid the escalation of tensions in the trade conflict between Washington and Beijing. Thyssenkrupp and Deutsche Telekom reported their respective earnings before the opening bell, both beating analysts' prior estimates. In the meantime, China posted better-than-expected trade balance figures for the previous month, allaying some of the investors' fears ahead of the new round of trade talks with the United States.

The FTSE 100 rose 0.40% at 8:10 am CET, while the DAX gained 1.05% in premarket session. In Paris, the CAC 40 jumped 1.11% a minute later. The euro was 0.14% higher against the dollar to sell for $1.1215 at 8:11 am CET, while the pound added 0.21% versus the greenback to sell for $1.2167.

Goldman predicts gold prices to rise to $1,600

Analysts at Goldman Sachs predict gold prices will soar to $1,600 per ounce over the next six months amid a surge in safe-haven assets as the trade war persists.

"If growth worries persist, possibly due to a trade war escalation, gold could go even higher, driven by a larger ETF gold allocation from portfolio managers who still continue to under-own gold," analysts at the New York bank said in a note on Wednesday. "Gold ETFs have recently built momentum almost as strong as in 2016, and we believe that can be maintained in the short-term," they added.

Earlier today, gold prices jumped to their highest level in more than six years as the trade dispute between China and the United States continue to push investors toward safe havens. The yellow metal leaped 1.96% to $1,503.47 per ounce at 11:17 am ET.
