The counter argument is that the research and development of a vaccine will encounter setbacks as well as successes.
What Scancell is attempting is novel and as such they will always encounter unexpected hurdles to overcome.
The last we heard is that the trial is expected to start in 2021. I don't think they can be more specific than that.
This is a first outing for both Avidimab and the delivery method. I suspect it is not easy to optimise this vaccine to achieve the goal of stopping all variants of covid19 and also perhaps other coronaviruses.

I would guess that to break out on the upside news is required.
Be this another Diggle wiggle or preferably something more important.

The big one I suppose is a successful proposal to CEPI.
It is likely that Scancell will have submitted their expression of interest.
The deadline for submission of an EOI is 31st May 2021.
However, the full proposal has a deadline of 1st Oct 2021.

I take this to mean that the latest date for CEPI to make a decision is sometime after 1st Oct.
That is not to say that they won't make an earlier decision if they really like a proposal.

The sensible view is that Scancell need to get that P1 Covidity trial started and collect evidence of the required immune responses before CEPI are likely to make an early decision.

So the important short term event is the announcement of the commencement of the P1 trial.
Of course, other news items on the 2 cancer trials could precede this.

Yes, it may well indicate that Sally is concentrating on the Covidity trial.
It's certainly the most important of the 3 trials from the point of view of a quick result on the commercial front.
It can only be weeks away now :-)

We have seen in the pre-clinical data Lindy presented at the AGM that Avidimab has an effect. How big an effect it has on the P1 trial I would Lindy will attempt to measure. However unlike preclinical she will have nothing to compare it with.

I would imagine that research is underway on its effectiveness as an ADC. In addition Lindy believes it can also increase the avidity of any mAb. So imagine the addition to a mAb that is currently partially effective and add to that the ability to attach a tumour killing agent. As Lindy says it has the potential to be a combination therapy in its own right.

I hope you are right Jonah. Success on clearing up Kabwe will prove that JLP has the technology to process toxic tailings and hence put JLP firmly on the map of anyone else with similar pollution problems.

It's almost as if clearing up the Kabwe mess has been put on the back burner.

Each of Jubilee's projects will not stand still. Leon will be looking to expand each project.
Take the Cyprus project. It could be just the beginning of operations in Europe.
Then on top of this, new projects and new countries will be added over time.

I agree with EE. It would be much better for governments to help facilitate manufacturing agreements between pharmas and other organisations (governments, other pharmas, CEPI, Covax etc). Also for governments to chip in on creating the required manufacturing capacity.
You could argue this should have been done as soon as the threat of the pandemic became clear but we are talking about politicians agreeing something for which scientists worldwide working on vaccines would be in total agreement.

It may be realistic to achieve a consensus among relevant parties for manufacturing but patent waivers would meet with strong resistance from the patent holders and certain governments. Why go down that route?
